Brian works at an ice cream parlour just outside the park. He's worked their for years, it pays for his university funds. After uni, he hopes to get a different job. He likes it at the ice cream parlour but he wants to have a career where he can move forward and become the best in his field.

He noticed on of his customers come in. He almost didn't recognise the blonde, normally he has a guy or girl with him. But he was on his own.

"How can I help?" Brian said, his usual greeting

"Just a bowl of strawberry ice cream please" The customer said, normally he is a lot more perkier than this

"That will be £2.50"

"Here" the money was handed over

"Take a seat if you'd like. I'll bring it out to you" Brian said in his friendly tone

"Thanks" The customer turned around and sat at the table in the far corner

Brian went straight to the machine to get the ice cream. It was nearly closing down time so Brian had a little skip in his step. His manager had already gone home, Brian was usually the only one to be there in the evenings.

Brian took the bowl of ice cream over to his customer.

"Here you go" Brian smiled as he placed the bowl in front of the blonde man

"Thanks" The customer grumbled

Brian went back behind the counter. His eyes kept falling on to the blonde customer. He didn't know his name but he always caught Brian's eye. He was just sat there, staring into space. His ice cream was finished. As Brian went up to tell him that it was closing time, he noticed that the man was crying.

"What's the matter?" Brian spoke softly

"It sounds so stupid if I say it out loud" The blonde man scoffed

"There isn't much I haven't heard" Brian sat down on the opposite side of the table

"My boyfriend broke up with me. I thought he was the one y'know?" He shrugged

"I know" Brian nodded, "What is your name?"

"Roger"

"I'm Brian but you probably already know that" Brian said, gesturing towards his name tag that he had to wear on his apron

"Yeah, I know you" Roger nodded

"You do?" Brian furrowed his eyebrows

"Dating traditions for me, I always take them here so I see you a lot" Roger let out a breathy chuckle

"I do recognise you, you caught my eye" Brian said

"Have I now?" Roger teased

"I- Uh, no no" Brian stammered

"Don't worry, you're probably straighter than a ruler" Roger grinned

"Not at all, straighter than a palm tree more like" Brian laughed

"Oh" Roger said before laughing too

"Well I've never had much luck in that department so it doesn't really matter" Brian shrugged

"I'm surprised" Roger stated

"Huh?"

"A nice guy like you, I'm surprised" Roger blushed a little bit not as much as Brian was right now. He turned bright red

"That's, that's very kind of you Roger" Brian put a small smile onto his face

"This is the part where you say I'm attractive too" Roger looked up with those big blue eyes

"W-well, I-I wouldn't be lying if I did say that" Brian's blush only got heavier

"Really?" Roger sounded as if he didn't believe Brian

"Yes really. Every time you come in with a new date I'm gutted it's not me" Brian admitted

"Like I said, I always bring my dates here. It's my favourite place. W-would you like to go on a date?" Roger asked

"I don't see why not" Brian grinned, "You don't have to take me far" The curly haired man looked around the shop

Roger chuckled, "I guess not"

"I've had a crazy idea" Brian tapped his finger on the table

"I love crazy" Roger said in his raspy voice

"Come with me" Brian held Roger's hand as they walked around the shop

Brian first went to the front door where he put the closed sign up and locked it. He then went behind the counter and to the small kitchen area. The pair sat on the floor with their bowls of every flavoured ice cream and giggled as they ate.

"Won't you get the sack for this?" Roger question

"Not if they don't find out. It wouldn't matter anyway. Plus, it would be worth it" Brian smiled

"Best first date ever" Roger said as he stuffed another spoonful of ice cream into his mouth
