7:00 am
I heard noises coming from downstairs. "What? Come on..it's a snow day and.." My tired eyes glanced at my phone. Quickly turning it over the screen lit up, showing the time. I groaned softly letting it lazily slip out of my hand onto the mattress of my bed again. "It's only seven in the freaking morning." I rolled over and stared at the ceiling, one arm resting on my stomach while the other hung off the side of my bed. I drifted off to sleep again into a dreamless luminescent abyss.
8:00 am
I was sleeping peacefully until I felt something wet and slobbery on my hand attached to the arm that was hanging over the edge of my bed. I didn't budge knowing it was just Abbey. I thought I had won this silent game between us, but I felt the air get knocked out of my lungs as a heavy weight landed on me. I gasped out, desperately needing oxygen. "A-Abbey! Down girl. C-Can't breathe." I fluttered my eyes open seeing a happy Abbey in my face, her tail wagging at a fast speed. Just when I was about to get the horse dog off me my door swung open, my mom's face was flushed a bit and she looked both stressed and excited at the same time. She pulled her brown hair back into a tight ponytail as she speed walked into my room and opened my window's blinds. "Mom?" I sat up after Abbey finally jumped off me and looked at her with curious and concerned eyes. "What's..going on? Are you okay?" She abruptly stopped picking up random items off of my floor to look at me. "Of course I'm okay. Don't I look okay?" She asked then went back to her task at hand. I continued watching her oddly then hopped off my bed to walk over to her. "Yeah, but..I mean..you're acting kinda flakey right now mom. What's up?" I asked curiously as I held her hands to keep her from continuing her odd task. She was about to explain now that I finally got her to acknowledge my concern when Sofie came running into my room giggling and shouting happily as she jumped on my bed. "Sofie! No jumping on beds." Mom stated as the wacky haired blonde toddler shouted.."New sisy! New sisy!" While mom got the giggling toddler off of my bed, holding her in her arms I gave a questioning look to mom. "Wh-What was Sofie just going on about? A new..what?" I swiped my messy H/C hair out of my face. Jamie then came in as well, more dressed up then his usual attire, with a bright smile. "Isn't this exciting Y/N?!" I looked at him shocked then spun around the room to glance at everyone, my E/C eyes wide. "What the fudge should I be excited about? Can someone please tell me what the fudge is going on!" Jamie just seemed to notice his mom's facial expression and realized she hasn't told Y/N yet. Mom cleared her throat and calmed herself down. "Honey, you know that you were adopted, yes?" "Yeah? A-And?" I was now kind of afraid of what was to come next. I slowly sat on the edge of my bed to hear what she had to tell me. "Well, I had gotten a call yesterday evening from the company that I adopted you from and they had big news to tell me..they..they found a family member of yours. Your sister..Paige. She survived the accident. And..they've sent her to come stay with us! With my permission of course, but are you excited? I'm excited." She giggled and snorted. I giggled nervously with her, feeling a little light headed. "She's headed here? N-Now?" Mom put Sofie down and Jamie took her out of my room to play with Abbey. She sat down next to me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. I just stared at the floor trying to process what I've just been informed of. "Her flight took off last night. She'll be arriving soon..." Mom squeezed me reassuringly. "You two will get along just fine..I have faith." I automatically gently touched my necklace, which has the word 'faith' dangling from it. I looked at her smiling softly. "I'll let you get ready. Don't over think anything, sweetie." I scoffed and gave her a playful look. Getting up from my bed, she patted my head then made her way to the door. Before closing it she looked back at me with a smirk. "And brush your hair or something. You look like you just got tossed out of a tornado." With that she pushed the bridge of her glasses up her nose and walked out closing my door behind her. I giggled at her goofy comment then went over to lock my door remembering the last time I was getting undressed and the wild toddler Sofie bursted into my room. With an unpredictable sibling such as Sofie you got to be prepared. Sitting in front of my mirror I began to wonder what my biological sister is like. I then started to think of different scenarios of how this meet and greet would go. I took in a breathe then exhaled. Picking up my brush I calmly stared at the girl in the reflection staring back at me. "Faith. Just have faith. You'll be okay Y/N. As long as I have faith what could go wrong?" I giggled half-heartedly then started humming my favorite song, brushing through my H/L H/C hair. "I can't remember the last time my hair had been this messy. H-How many toss and turns did I make last night?"
