Eric sees my face expression change and looks over at my phone. Once he sees that it's Brandon, he takes in a deep breath as I glare at my phone, well, the name on my phone screen."Jamie, before you pick that phone up," I carefully pick up my phone, "Think before you answer it." Eric says cautiously.
"Why should I?!" I bursted out, just seeing Brandon's name is getting me riled up as I gripped onto my phone hard.
"Because, I just want you to be rational about this." Eric keeps a calm and collected voice as to not stir things up.
"But-" I tried arguing but he cut me off.
"Jamie, you got tense and angry just from thinking about him!" Eric raised his voice but cleared his throat, "Just think about what you're about to do if you hear his voice."
I look at my phone and it stopped ringing. I let out a relieved sigh and so did Eric.
Eric took one of my hands in his and I looked up at him, "I know that he messed some things up-," I opened my mouth, I was about to interfere, but he beat me to it, "Okay, fine, he messed a lot of important things up," I nodded when he said 'important' and he seemed pleased with my response and kept going, "But-"
My phone started ringing again and I groaned loudly, I was honestly ready to chuck my phone at the wall but I love my phone and not backstabbing, lying, traitors!
Okay, I may have went a little overboard but my point still stands!
"Be rational." Eric states as I grit my teeth together and clench my fist into a ball.
Okay, fine. I'll try to be rational.
I answer the phone, bring it up to my ear and wait for it to connect. After 5 seconds of it not connecting I groaned and I was ready to give up while Eric rolled his eyes at me and shook his head with an amused smirk.
I stuck my tongue out at him childishly and received a chuckle from him making me smile but then it went away when the call connected and I heard his voice.
His voice!
"Jamie, hey." He says calmly, almost nervous. I don't say anything, I don't know what to say that's rational and the most rational thing to do right now is to stay silent. That was until he spoke again, "Jamie?" He questioned.
Eric nudged my knee with his since he can slightly hear B ta- Brandon talk. I breathed in and out before responding, "Brandon." That's all I had that was rational right now and I am damn happy about it.
I looked over Eric and he gave me a 'seriously?' look and I waved him off as Brandon began speaking, "Hey, so how was the fair?"
'How was the-'
'How was the fai-'
'HOW WAS THE FAIR?'!
I forced a smile on my face so I could keep my cool as Eric mouthed, 'uh oh' and uh oh indeed because I just don't have the right mentality to be 'rational' right now!
I breathed calmly and collectively, I kept the smile on my face, as I answered elegantly while I tried to be the bigger person,
"THE FAIR?! SERIOUSLY?" I saw Eric flinch a little in my peripheral vision and I turned to him, put a hand over my heart 'I'm sorry' before returning to the phone and cleared my throat, "That's all?! That's all you have to say?! First off, you don't tell me that you're leaving! Secondly, you don't tell me that you and Owen are officially dating and that he's in LA with you! Thirdly, you e-mail my school about Eric and I! And fourthly, you betrayed me! You betrayed my trust, my love," I saw Eric glare at me a little when I said 'my love' but I waved him off again, he knew what I meant, "You betrayed me! Do you understand that?!"
