Chapter 7
~Destani Smith~
I went off to find my little brother. I was making sure he didn't run off like he did before.
I went upstairs to his room. I didn't bother knocking, I turned the knob and invited myself in.
Edward was on his floor coloring but I said,"Edward, come downstairs so I can keep an eye on you. You can bring your crayons and coloring pages. We're watching a movie."
He leaped up from the floor without protest and grabbed his materials. I held the door open for him seeing as though his hands were full.
I lead him downstairs and to the living room where Maya was sitting on the carpet, in front of the couch.
Edward ran to sit down next to her.
"You can sit on the couch, Maya," I told her.
"No, I'm fine," She said."Don't you think its better to sit closer to the TV?" I nodded.
"Hey Maya," Edward greeted her.
"Hey Kid," Maya said. She smiled at him before looking up at me with those beautiful eyes of hers. Her gaze sent shivers down my spine.
"I-I'll get snacks and some popcorn," I found myself stammering. Why was she making me nervous?
I walked out and went into the kitchen to microwave popcorn. I also grabbed some snacks like, yogurt, a big bag of Lays potato chips, and chocolate chip cookies.
I returned to the living room and dumped them on the coffee table. Edward was talking her ear off about his coloring book. What a pain my brother could be, but she didn't seem to mind.
By the time I came back to the kitchen the popcorn was done. I got the bag out of the microwave, opened it and poured it into a large bowl.
I grabbed some juice bottles in one hand and the popcorn bowl in the other. I walked slowly back to the living room, balancing all of the items.
The laptop was out and hooked up to the TV already due to Edward. The Netflix homepage appeared on the flat screen TV.
He was scrolling through movie options and telling them to Maya. I placed the drinks and popcorn on the coffee table.
"Destani, lets watch Grown Ups 2," Eddie suggested. I shrugged, signaling that it was okay. It was a funny movie so I had no problem.
I took a seat on the floor on the other side of Maya and she stared at me for a second before turning around at the sound of the movie starting.
I couldn't help to think of how beautiful she is and how she confessed her feelings towards me. I remembered her extremely cute blushing when she told me.
I couldn't help but wonder what she mean't when she said she lived in the woods. Was she serious? No, she must be lying.
Why would she lie? What possible reason could there be for her to lie about living in the woods?
About halfway through the movie, I noticed how much she was laughing, and how happy she was. Like a normal teenager.
I asked her at that moment,"What did you mean by you lived in the woods?" It took her awhile to realize that I was speaking to her.
She turned her head to me and said,"Oh, my dad and I have a little house there." She shrugged, her attention returning to the movie.
I decided I will ask her questions after the movie.
