Chapter 6
~Maya Marlowe~
I couldn't read her face, she must've been shocked, of course that was expected. Was she glad to see me though?
When the car's engine cut off, she exited the car and another girl, I remembered her from the picture, came out too. The girl I didn't know looked at me and asked,"Who are you and why are you on our property?" She was rude. Now I know how Destani felt when I snapped at her when we first met.
I didn't answer the girl because of the tone of her voice. I got to my feet, wiped my backside with my hands of the dirt that may have been there.
I faced Destani and smiled,"Hi."
"You know her?" The girl I didn't know asked Destani.
"Yeah. I know her," Destani said with a faint smile tugging at her plump lips."Could you go insidke, please."
The girl grunted before stomping inside the giant house. I was still amazed by the house.
"How are you?" I asked her even if it did sound stupid at the moment. I was extremely nervous and couldn't concentrate on anything other than her beautiful face.
She giggled,"Good. What are you doing here?"
"Right," I said, remembering. I pulled out the phone."Here's your phone. At least I think its your phone." I handed it to her.
She smiled widely,"Thank you so much." She unexpectedly hugged me. I was shocked but I wrapped my arms around her petite frame. I could tell she wasn't expecting that either.
She slowly withdrew from the warm hug and looked me directly in the face,"How'd you know where I lived?"
"I was... I was walking by the park and your little brother saw me," I said, truthfully. I didn't know how I was supposed to keep this conversation steady."He called me over and I met your mother. Long story short, I told her that we were friends and she lead me back here to wait for you."
"That was quite the coincidence," She said.
I nodded,"And, I want to apologize for when we met, I was very rude." I shoved my hands in my pants pockets. I was stalling and I needed to extinguish that habit.
"That's totally fine," She told me.
My father always taught me to speak my mind. Over the years I have acquired to be brutally honest to my father. The truth will set you free.
"Could I be honest with you?" I asked her.
She looked confused but slowly nodded, indicating that I could.
"According to my father," I bit my lip. Why was I letting her intimidate me like this? It was difficult to get the words out."I l-like you."
She didn't say anything which made me feel bad. I didn't want to cry, I wanted to disappear for a awhile.
"Say something," I pressed.
"What do you mean, you like me?" She asked for clarification. I had a feeling that she already knew what I meant.
"I like, like you," I said.
She didn't say anything, she just smiled. I was actually irritated that she won't verbalize how she felt about the situation.
"Say something back," I said.
"Like what?" She asked.
"That you like me back?" I offered.
She smiled,"Wanna come inside?" She pointed towards the mansion.
"Do you want me to come inside?" I asked nervously. I had to admit that I wanted to see how the inside looked like if the outside of the house was this grand.
