Zeva Pov:

I leave the amphitheater, my list of books in hand, glad that he took the time to answer for me. Taking one last glance back before going out the doors I give him a smile. I wonder what secrets are hidden behind the beautiful amber eyes of Professor Jones. This city seems totally invaded by supernatural creatures: vampires, witches and now psychic mediums. Even his story seems to be closely linked to magic.

I smile to myself, strange as it may seem I feel at home. I've always wanted to live in a place where I would be accepted, with my strangeness and my past, uncompromising and open-minded. I think I've found it in Mystery Spell.

I decided to go to the cafeteria to join Sarah. Scanning the crowd of students I quickly find her. She's sitting with a group of friends, and I realize that sometimes I forget how popular she is.

On many levels I envy her. I'd also like to attract people, to make friends easily, but it's never been one of my qualities. I tend to put myself at a distance. Because of my abilities, I only had few friends, fewer still that I could somewhat trust.

She sees me and immediately gets up to join me, leaving her crowd of admirers. She has a swaying and distinguished walk. Her face basically beaming and radiant when she smiles. She's so different, so unique... she gives off an energy that attracts people, without seeming to make the slightest effort.

Sarah - "Zeva, everything okay?  You're looking at me strangely..."

Her playful voice make my thoughts come to a grinding halt. I realize I'm staring at her, not blinking, which isn't very polite. I shake my head snapping out of my weird mullings and give her a smile.

"Sorry, I was thinking of something else. I just spoke to Professor Jones, he gave me a good advice and a list of books to read!"

Sarah wiggles her eyebrows and a smirk crosses her lips.

Sarah - "He seems to know a lot about paranormal activity, magic and other weird stuff.I should go and ask him some questions too about witches,,,"

I giggle at her when she wiggles her eyebrows sarcastically.

" I have to go to the library. Do you want to come with me?"

I tried to entice her with a hopeful look, but it quickly dissipates as Sarah gives me a apologetic look.

Sarah - "I'm sorry, I've something planned this afternoon ... I promise I'll catch you tomorrow!"

Sarah grabs my shoulder, gently rubbing it. She clearly feeling guilty for ditching me with my thoughts. I try to shrug it off. Plans are plans after all.

"No worries. I can understand that you don't want to spend the afternoon reading bizarre books on such a strange subject!"

Sarah - "You know that I love everything weird! Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Be careful going home. Send me a text!"

Sarah gives me a wink and a hug before trotting off. I watch her go, skipping off and I can't help but roll my eyes and smile. I'm lucky to have met someone like her, on arriving at Mystery Spell!

Upon entering the library I quickly find some of the books on the list. Funny some of them I wouldn't even have considered. Settling down in a corner chair, I started with the first book on the list. Time seems to fly as I engulf myself in actual useful information.

I spend a moment alone in the library. I was stuck looking at one of the books crinkled pages. I blink at it a few times looking up. I can't concentrate. These events are beyond me, and I don't know how to react. Feeling a pit in my stomach forming, I chewed my lip trying to settle my nerves. Have I always been so indecisive? At the same time, these circumstances are very particular ...
