Peter Pov
Zeva - "You know where to find me!"
Her voice chimed in my head bringing thoughts of all sorts going through my head. I couldn't say how many minutes had passed since she left but she took everything with her when she left.
Lorie - "Peter."
I turned to look down at Lorie. Her doll-like eyes had been fixated on me with a smug look plastered perfectly on her angelic face.
Lorie - "I want to play."
She smiled, showing a little of her fangs before jumping out of my hands. I eyed her, looking for any tells. Lorie was always exceptionally intuitive, especially when she shouldn't be.
"I don't feel like playing, Lorie. I'll give you a lesson next time."
Lorie - "But you always feel like playing."
I refrained from rolling my eyes, as I curled a finger through her hair.
"I know you hate being locked inside but there are hunters close by. Nicolae will be back soon and with a treat so be a good girl. Go play with Drogo. I have work to do."
Lorie huffs crossing her arms, clearly not giving in.
Lorie - "Zeva leaves and suddenly you have work to do? All you and Drogo care about is my nanny and I'm tired of it!"
"Drogo has no interests in Zeva. He has Maya."
Lorie - "Then why did he need her phone?"
She stuck out her tongue as if stating a matter of fact.
"What did Drogo need Zevas phone for?"
She scoffed off my question, as if she didn't know and turned her attention to my piano. A low warning growl emanated from my chest when her fingers almost touched the keys.
"Lorie!"
Lorie - "But I want to play one of your songs!"
Lories finger pointing accusingly towards the music sheet that had been left out in the open. "Dor de ea" was barely still visible on the top, written in my all too familiar but very faded cursive ink.
Like most of my pieces from that era, the song's footnotes were written in Romanian. No one living in the past two centuries would have known or heard this song. It had been dedicated completely to my mother and it was one of the few that, no matter how hard he tried, Stellian never could fully copy. That significance alone was a trigger and in playing it, I had been taking on a huge risk. I just hadn't thought that Lorie would show up when she did.
I opened my mouth unsure what to say, when Nicolae's low but booming voice echoed in the way that only Vampires could hear.
Nicolae - "PETER? LORIE!?"
Instantly Lories eyes widened and she quickly dashed out of my room, with me trailing quickly behind her. I couldn't let her tell Nicolae that Zeva had been in my room. Not before I had a chance to figure some things out first.
Nicolae was in our basement dining room, holding a big paper bag. The minute he saw me entering, he shot Lorie a stern look before indicating with his chin to the side.
Nicolae - "Would one of you care to explain this?"
Following the direction he indicated I looked over towards our dining table. Or rather, where it should have been.
It looked more like a bomb had gone off than our second dining room. Half of the chairs had been dismantled into kindlewood, no bigger than a coffee cup and the table itself had been tilted and shoved up against the wall.
