Peter Pov:
Think.
Nope!
Comon! Think!
NO!
I reasoned my brain to think but it just wouldn't obey. Instead, throbs of pain pulsated through my head, letting ideas slipped through my fingers. One fact remained the same though. I. Didn't. Like. This.
Zeva shot me a questioning look, but when I didn't respond she quickly turned her attention to Dorothy. Like that was any better! Why couldn't we just walk quietly?
The awkwardness turned to a curse instead. I could smell him long before he showed himself. The stench of testosterone and too much Axe deodorant.
Loan.
Loan walks up almost striding, giving both girls a seductive smile. His eyes taking an extra interest in Zeva.
Loan - "So Peter. I see you're saving all the new girls for yourself. Tell me, what's your secret?"
Even while he was addressing me, his eyes only seemed to devour Zeva. Newformed arousal barely covered the recent stink of sex that lingered on his clothes like a long lost puppy. I felt bad for Samantha, Loan was not the faithful type. I know Drogo wasn't much better but at least those girls knew what it was. Fun without commitment. He never consider girls things and always respected a no.
Zeva - "We aren't things, Loan! It would be nice if you didn't talk about us like that!".
Loan - "Stop pretending to rebel, Zeva. I know you like the attention ..."
Loan leered back at her creating a tint in her cheeks. She looked more like an angry kitten extending its claws but damn she looked cute doing it. I was so entranced that I didn't notice Loan eyes had darkened until he descended on her, overshadowing her small form. The same look burned in his eyes, reminding me of the night at the bar. Suddenly it was Deja vu all over again, and the remembrance was enough to trigger my anger. Taking a step forward, I was about to intervene when Zevas eyes caught mine.
My hands itched as I forced my anger under control. The urge to fling the Huxley boy into the nearest building and seeing the life drained from him, still strongly entertained mind. But that would reveal the monster in front of the girls. The mixed look of horror and panicked left a bile taste my mouth. No. I wouldn't put Zeva through that again. Instead I swallowed, pushing my demons aside and willed my focus on the pair of hands that was starting to wrap themselves on my side.
Dorothy - "I'm sure they can catch up."
Her attention flickered to Zeva and Loan. The tone in her voice made my head ring with a new set of throbs. I almost grimaced when her hands shook when she glided her hand under my shirt touching my skin.
Delicately I pried her fingers off trying not to bruise her talented fingers or the let the chill of my cold skin freeze her further. Her eyes dilated and heartbeat quickened.
Leaning down, I too the chance and kept my lips just barely from touching the skin of her ear. The pungent smell of jasmine didn't overwhelm me, but instead warded off my blood thirst and for that I was actually thankful.
"Dorothy. Your freezing. Go home. The mansion is still a ways from here and you are freezing. Take the path to the right and it will lead you straight home. I'll let you visit another time.."
I let my whispered words hang, for her to process. When she answered with a slight nod, I pulled away.
Eyeing her olive green eyes carefully, I waved my hands in front of her, breaking the haze that had befell them. She tugged at the corners of her lips before she quickly headed off without a word. Once satisfied that she was following my instructions, I turned my attention to my next problem.
