Chapter 40

Abigail's POV
*2 weeks later*
I decided I would go for a run. I changed into a sports bra, spandex shorts and a loose tank top. I grabbed my phone and head phones. "Mom I'm going for a run I'll be back in an hour" "Okay sweetie be safe" she says and I walk out to door. I started running.

I turned off my phone and continued running. Sam and I are good and he's still my best friend. I still love him. A lot. We've kissed a couple times. Everything between us two's the same, except that I can't kiss him whenever I want. He's really good with Alyssa and it's the cutest thing. I ran past the park for a while before turning around. I've been running for 45ish minutes. I started feeling dizzy but I ignored it and kept running. I ran into something and blacked out.

Sam's POV

I knocked on Abi's door and her mom answered. "Hey Sam" "Hi is Abi home yet?" "No she went on a run but she hasn't gotten back. You can come in though if you'd like" "No its fine thank you. I'll come back in a bit" "Ok" she says and closes the door. I called Abi and she didn't answer. I called her a couple more times again but she didn't answer. I grabbed my keys and started driving around. I found her on the floor knocked out. I parked the car and ran out. I picked her up and aid her on my lap. I shook her a little, "Abi" but she didn't wake up. I put her in my back seat and drive to the hospital. I went towards the emergency room and ran in with her in my hands. "She's knocked out cold" they brought out one of the beds. "How did this happen?" One of the nurses asks me. "She went on a run and I found her on the floor" "Do you know how long she's been out?" "No idea" "Ok we're going to run a couple tests and we'll call you. What are you to her?" "I'm her boyfriend" I lied. "Ok sweetheart we'll let you know" "Thank you" I say and call Michelle. "Hey I found her" "Where was she?" "Well she's in the ER right now. She was knocked out cold when I found her" "Oh my goodness is she okay?" "They're running tests. I'll call you back as soon as I know what's going on" "Okay" "Thank you Sam" "Of course" I say and hang up. I sat down shaking my leg nervously. "Family of Abigail Hernandez" the doctor says and I stand up. "I'm her boyfriend her family isn't here" "Okay well Abigail isn't in great condition. She's depressed, do you know what's happened in her life in the last year or so?" "Yeah um, she was raped at a party. She has a child at home" "Oh my" he answers, "How are you and her" "Well we broke up a little more than two weeks ago and we're currently on a 'break'" I say putting air quotes around break. "But I treat her the same, nothing's changed" "Well Abigail's struggling and shes in a coma due to her depression and stress level. She has a loss of appetite, we don't know how long she will be in a coma for. Hopefully no longer that 3-4 days. Any longer then that and she may not wake up" he says and I feel my heart stop. A tear rolled down my face "You guys have to do something" "Theirs nothing we can do son I'm sorry but you'll just have to wait" I sighed and sat at one of the chairs, I just started crying because I felt like it was my fault. I called Michelle and told her that she needed to get to the hospital. "Sam what happen?" Michelle asked walking up to me. I explained everything to her and she stood there with a blank face, she started crying. We stayed in the hospital and then the doctor came out again. "Can we please go see her?" Michelle asked. "Yes you may. Room 4157" "Thank you so much." Michelle said and we walked to her room. I let out a sigh and walked in. I saw Abi laying there lifeless, Michelle started crying as soon as she saw Abigail. "Abi please wake up." She said and held her hand. I couldn't even speak, I never thought I would see Abi like this. I started crying and Michelle hugged me, "Abigail is a strong girl. She will get through this Sam." She said and I nodded. "Ok visiting hours are over. You may come again tomorrow morning at 8:30." A nurse said. I walked up to Abigail and kissed her forehead, "I love you babe and I'll be here tomorrow morning." I said and kissed her forehead again. I walked out with Michelle and we went to our cars. "Do you need help with Alyssa?" I asked. "No Sam don't worry about it. I'll see you here tomorrow right?" "Yeah I'll be here at 8:30." "Ok." She said and I got in my car. I drove to my house and went to sleep.
