Rehearsal - A Dana Vaughns One-Shot

     Riley sat in math class, watching the clock, willing with every last morsel that it would speed up. Math was her slowest subject of the day. There was only one bright side to it.

     Dana.

     He sat next to her during class. Riley really liked him a lot. But, seriously, who didn't?

     Dana had this adorable head of curly hair and he was so nice. But he was also in the semi-famous boy band, IM5. A lot of girls had panic attacks when they found out that Dana Vaughns was going to be attending their school. He was also popular with the guys, being on the football team.

     The people Dana hung out with, however, were not exactly...friends with Riley. She was quiet, and mostly kept to herself.

     "Hey, Riley," Dana whispered, pulling Riley away from her thoughts.

     "What?" she hissed.

     "The guys and I are having band practice on Friday and I was wondering if you would want to come? Then afterwards, you and I could, I don't know, go get pizza, or something?"

     "I, um, uh, yeah. That sounds great," Riley breathed, awestruck at what had just happened to her. Dana Vaughns just asked me to hang out. Holy crap, she thought.

     "Okay, see you there," he whispered, leaning over and kissing her on the cheek.

     On Friday, Riley walked over to Dana's house. She could feel butterflies in her stomach as she knocked on his front door. It only took him a few seconds to open the door. His face lit up when he saw her.

     "Hi, Riley. I'm so glad you could make it. Cole's gonna drive us over to the rehearsal, okay?" Dana asked.

     "Uh, yeah. That sound great," Riley said, blushing.

     "Oh, uh, you can come in if you want," he replied. Riley walked into his house, and she was in awe of how big it was.

     "Wow," she breathed. Dana chuckled.

     "Yeah...the boy band life does have it's perks." He turned around and shouted up the stairs; "Come on, Cole! We're going to be late!"

     Cole came rushing down the stairs. "Sorry, sorry. I was watching Aladdin."

     "Seriously, bro?"

     "Yeah, it's a great movie," he responded. Cole then turned to Riley and held out his hand. "Hi Riley, I'm Cole."

     She smiled up at him, then followed the boys to the car. Dana rode shotgun, so she sat in the back. When they got to the building, Dana dragged Riley upstairs so they wouldn't be late. They stopped at a room with three other boys inside; an Asian, a brunette, and a black-haired one with a blonde streak in the front.

     "Who's the girl?" the brunette asked.

     "This is my....friend, Riley," Dana said. "I sit next to her in math."

     "Oooh, is this that girl that you're always-" blonde streak started.

     "No- I, uh, mean, I, uh....let's just start," Dana stuttered.

     "Well, before we start," the Asian began, walking over to her. "Hi. I'm Will, and that is Gabe and David. We're IM5."

     "It's nice to meet you, Will," Riley said, smiling up at him.

     The boys walked into the recording booth and began singing. Cole started, then Will. Next was Dana.

     "All I wanna do is get you all alone can I hold you close. Tell me girl cause all I wanna is you, you and no one else,  keep you to myself no, uh, no time to, um," Dana sang. It appeared that he had forgotten the words, or had gotten distracted. Truth is, he looked at Riley, and forgot what he was supposed to say. "Uh, could we start over?"

     "Sure," their manager said. The second time they sang, it was flawless. Riley was surprised at how talented Dana was.

     After they perfected Get to Know You, Dana was ready to be with Riley. "You wanna go see a movie?" he asked.

     "That sounds good; what, uh, what movie do you want to see?"

     "Um, h-how about The Maze Runner? I heard that was good," he suggested.

     "That sounds good." Riley smiled up at him. They both cried during the movie and had a great time. Afterwards, the two went out for frozen yogurt.

     "Riley- can I ask you something?" Dana blurted.

     "Sure. What's up?" she replied.

     "Um, well, I've liked you for a while now, and, um, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked.

     "Dana, I-I...."

     "Yeah, I know. It was stupid. I'm sorry," he blushed.

     "No, Dana, I-I like you, too. It was just, well, you're in a famous boy band, and captain of the football team and I'm, well, I'm me. Plain old me."

     "Plain old you? Riley- you're the most amazing girl I've ever met. So, uh, will you be mine?"

     Riley leaned over and kissed his adorable forehead. "I hope that answers your question."
