Chapter 14

Beatrice's POV
The 4 of us walked to Chris' house. Chris opened the door, it was dark and quiet. I could feel the sense of lonliness from the moment the door opened.
I couldn't believe that Chris, the cheery and caring boy I love, would come home to a quiet and lonely home.

I felt bad for him. So I decided to hug him as we enter his home.

"What's wrong?" Chris asked
"Nothing, I just ought to tell you that I'll always be here for you." I said as I snuggled in his arm
"Aww thanks." He said then kissed my head.
"Hey, you two lovebirds done?" Jake called from the kitchen with Alice.
"I can't believe those two would immediately raid the fridge." I thought to myself as I face palmed.

After that, we all sat on the couches in the living room. Chris and I sat together while Jake and Alice sat infront of us. After a while, Jake and Alice were teasing each other like children.

"You know, you two would look great together." I said with a smirk
"Whaaaatt??? Pshh nahh" Jake said.
"Nopeee. What the heck B" Alice added.
"B?" Chris asked.
"Well yea, its kind of a nickname Alice made for me. And I would call her Ali for short." I said.
"Oh, that's nice. Guess I'll call you B too, its cute." Chris said.
"Awww." I said as we stared at each other's eyes.

We were probably staring for a while now because the moment our faces slowly got closer. Alice and Jake clapped their hands to bring us back.

"Sooooo, why are we here again?" Alice asked.
"To see these lovebirds mate?" Jake said
"What? No!! Come on Jake." I said as Chris laughed.
"Anyway lets be real, Chris what's bothering you? Is it about the phonecall with your dad last night?" I asked.
"Well most likely yeah." He said.
"What happened?" Alice asked.
"Well my dad called, we were catching up on the phone then he mentioned my uncle..." He said
"Your uncle?" Jake asked.
"What's up with him?" I added
"Well when I was young and I was still living with my mom and dad, my uncle would sometimes go to our house and ask money from dad because he couldn't afford to pay his expenses." He said.
"Well why doesn't he get a job then?" Jake asked.
"Well that's the problem, he can't... He didn't finish school so now he can't apply for a job." Chris said.
"Okay so he doesn't have a job, so he asks your dad for money. What does it have to do with you?" Alice clarified.
"Sometimes, my uncle would stay in our house whenever he can't pay his rental fee in his apartment. And whenever he's there, he would treat my mom as a maid and would slave her away. I don't really show up to him because whenever dad and mom are out to work. He would abuse and punish me for the dumbest reasons" Chris said.
"Oh my gosh Chris, I-I didn't know you were abused." Jake said with worry in his eyes.
"No one does, I-I thought I have already left my past behind. But now he's back, and I'm afraid on what he'll do to me and how long he's gonna stay." Chris said with fear.
"Don't worry Chris, we'll always be here for you. I'm here, Jake's here, Alice's here. Okay? So whenever he does something to you. Let us know." I said as I hugged him.
"Aww lemee join too." Alice said then hugged us.
"Hey, don't leave me." Jake added then also came.
"We're your 2nd family okay Chris?" I said.
"Thanks guys, really." He said.
