So mine and Seth's returns were a success and the crowd loved that we were back. I loved that the crowd reacted so well. I mean, hell, I've been in and out of the ring in the past two years. Not exactly how I thought my career would go but, hey, I got a family out it so I was good. But now we were moving forward and after breaking the news to Jordan that I was, in fact, retiring next month at SummerSlam, I'd decided that we needed a vacation. Especially after all the crap we'd all had to deal with the past year. Roman needed this. Jordan needed this. I needed this. And Seth definitely needed this. So I'd planned a couples vacation. I'd run it by them before I reserved anything and they were all three on board which was a relief because I didn't wanna plan this and be the only one to have fun. That would be awful.
I finished packing up my suitcase while Seth was getting dressed. My phone rang from the bed and I grabbed it before I smiled. My mom was video calling me. More than likely, Gracie, actually. I answered the phone and Gracie's face popped up on the screen. "Mommy!" she said excitedly.
"Hi baby girl." I said. "What are you doing?"
"Mima." she said.
"You're with Mima?" I asked. That's what she called my mom. It wasn't Grandma. It wasn't Nana. It wasn't Gigi. I was Mima. And everyone had to get it right otherwise she would throw a holy fit about it.
"Yeah." she said.
"I miss you and your brother so much." I said.
"Ooo too mommy." she replied. Her language was so darn cute. And her little voice on top of it. It melted my heart every damn time I talked to her.
I looked over at Seth walking out of the bathroom. I gasped and looked at Gracie. "Oh, Gracie, look who's here." I said before moving the phone so Seth was also in the frame.
"Daddy!" she yelled with a huge smile. Could you tell how much of a daddy's girl she was?
"Hey princess. You being good?" he asked her.
"Yeah. Daddy, Mima." she said pointing to the background where my mom was clearly holding CJ.
"Mima. I see." he said. "Is she holding baby brother?"
"Yeah." she said.
"I miss you. And I love you princess." he told her.
"Me too." she said. I chuckled. It wasn't what she said. It was how she said it. Like there was no other fact more true or more important than the two words she just said. I sat down and finished talking to Gracie and my mom while Seth finished getting ready for our trip.
"You guys heading out on your trip?" My mom asked.
"Yeah." I said. "You're okay, with the kids for a little bit longer, right?"
"Honey, we are all fine here." she said. "You kids go have fun and don't think about anything else. I can tell you all need it. Besides, you'll be able to stay home with them a lot after next month so take all this in while you can."
"Thanks mom." I said. "I love you."
"And I love you." she said. We hung up and I turned to Seth who was standing in the bathroom doorway.
I sighed. "You know, I don't know what I'm gonna do not seeing you every day. Especially after the last year." I said.
"I know." he said. "But our kids will have you and that's all that matters. They need their mom to be with them."
"I know." I said. "But right now, I just wanna focus on work and you and this vacation. And I don't want that to sound selfish but it's just how I feel."
