Fairy Rock

Chapter 6: Rock visits Mitch's MMA Gym

It is another foggy night in the World of The Fairies. Sparkle rests in her bed in a miniature, purple house high in the black trees as she has separated from Rock.

Rock has turned back into Tevin. He lies on a thick tree branch outside Sparkle's home. He holds on to the sturdy limb for dear life, hoping he does not fall to the ground. "Sparkle, please help me! I don't want to die."

The young fairy blows purple pixie dust out of her window into his face, sedating him as he breathes the magical substance into his lungs.

Tevin sighs while the purple magic relaxes the tension he feels. Man, this purple stuff puts me in a jolly mood. It's way better than the weed Richard gave me. Being Rock feels so good, and I have already accomplished so much. I'll never forget how beautiful Serenity looked when I smashed Daniel. Serenity, I promise you I'll never let Daniel hurt you again, and I'll protect you with my life, my love.

He briefly takes a picture out of his front pocket of Richard and his parents in Fairyville Highschool's parking lot at their graduation. He gets on his knees and prays. Loving God, please look after my family and Richard. Please let them know that I'll return soon. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen!

Queen Vanessa flies to the branch where Tevin is kneeling. "How are you feeling, young man?"

"I'm scared."

"Do not worry. I will not let you fall."

"Thank you for what you're doing for me. I have a great chance with Serenity.

"Rock is an amazing magical creation that Sparkle has made."

Tevin snivels, and his nose starts to run as he sobs. "I want to stay as Rock and win Serenity's heart, but I miss Richard and my family."

Queen Vanessa splashes a more potent dose of purple pixie dust on his face. He inhales and feels it going in his brain as his mind eases. The queen gently touches his forehead until his stress goes away. "I can see that many people care about you, but I am like a new mother to you and care for you as well. Rock is who you need to be."

Tevin shuts his eyes, exhaling the misty air. "I will do anything to be with Serenity, but...."

Queen Vanessa watches him fall asleep and whispers in his ear, "Have faith in the fairies. We know what's best for you."

Morning comes, and Tevin is groggy as he awakens. He tries to turn over to get more sleep, but Sparkle nudges him.

"It's time for training at the MMA Gym," she says.

She gets back on his shoulder and gives him another batch of blue pixie dust. The young fairy applauds herself as his transformation into Rock is instant, with less blue smoke filling the air. "I-I-I am getting so much better at this!"

The two enter the magical portal and return to the woods of Fairyville.

"Fairy, what's going on?"

Rock and Sparkle see crowds of people searching the forest for what appear to be clues. The search party is wearing red t-shirts with a picture of Tevin on each of them. They're putting up posters with photos of him on all the trees in the woods.

"Tevin was such a good kid. He mowed my lawn for free when I didn't have any money to pay him," one of the search party members says.

"He helped me with my science project, and I got an A on it," another search party member says.

"Tevin used to babysit my son when I had to work," a third member says.

Rock's knees buckle, attempting to keep the strength to stand up straight while going through the large group. He finds his parents and Richard posting pictures of him on an old oak tree with the bark peeling off it. His father hugs his mother, tightly allowing her to bury her face into his hefty chest.
