"Hey Marina?"
"Yes, Will?"
"Have you ever played chess before?"
"I have! What about it?"
"Do you think this place has a chess set? Maybe we can play!"
"We'd have to leave our CU's, TC won't allow it, it would be breaking the rules" Marina replied. Will scoffed and went over to the edge of the glass, assessing the clear structure with a calculated look. With a good squeeze he slipped underneath and out the other side, clinging to the edge that jutted out with his fingers. Immediately the alarms went off, Will's CU lighting up red as it realized its occupant had vanished from within. The Flatlander looked up at Marina, waiting for TC to come at it's call, but he thankfully and strangely didn't.
"He's probably too absorbed in his work. How did you get out!?" Marina asked.
"I'm flat," Will said, jumping over to her CU and pressing the open button. The case slid up and Marina slithered out. "If TC does have a chess set, it'll be in the living room," she said. Will pointed to the door "To the living room!" he cried. Marina opened her wings, tossed Will onto her back before taking flight. Her beautiful purple wings shiny and almost metallic looking as the shades shifted under the light. The Flatlander clung to her in fear as she flew through the air, "Hold on tight!" she called, Will did so and almost slipped off as she banked to the left.
The door to the CU room was open just a little, with enough space for them to slip through. Marina landed near the door and Will slid off her back as she peered down the hall. "All clear, let's go."

"Which is your favorite piece?" Marina asked, moving a pawn forward with her tail. Will grinned "I like the horses, my brother had this beautiful chess set back home, and the horses were just magnificent!"
"So you like them because they are pretty? Not because of their job?"
Will nodded. "Exactly!"
"Checkmate!" Marina cried.
Will grumbled "I never win" he pouted, setting them back up. "Should we be worried the alarms to my CU are going off? TC will hear it and be angry we got out" he added.
"He won't get mad, maybe disappointed that you disobeyed the rules, but he won't be mad" Marina said.
Will sighed "I just don't want to be punished." he muttered.
"Hey, come on, he will never punish you in the way that Gleeful man did. Besides, we're done now anyway," Marina said.
They both looked up as they heard TC's hurried footsteps, it seemed he had finally been alerted. "Hide!" Will cried, diving into the pillows of the sofa. Marina slid off the table and under the armchair.
TC raced into the CU room and gazed at the red case in shock, it wasn't open, yet Will wasn't inside, and Marina, his snake, was gone too. He guessed Will had somehow slipped underneath, and the two had gone off to explore. Which meant they were somewhere in the house.
He peered into all the rooms, checking the smaller hiding places for any sign of his creatures. When he came into the last room, he grew suspicious. The chess board had been used, recently too. TC's eyes noticed a small black, toe-less foot sticking out the pillows. Will gasped and quickly tugged his foot in, his heart pounding in his chest as he realized he had been caught.
TC came over and moved the pillows away, grabbing him as he tried to run away. "Just what do you think you're doing!? Leaving your CU without me!? Explain!!" he asked icily.
