As I enter the school, I take a big breath of air. I was strange like that- I liked new smells (besides nasty stuff like garbage) but like new cars and buildings. This building smelt like Roses.

I would be a senior at Divergent High. I moved here to take a vacation from my parents and brother. All they want from me is to be selfless, like how they were raised, but I can't. I'm too selfish.

I'm looking at the map of the school that the guidance counselor gave me when I enrolled here. "If you need anything, please, don't hesitate to ask." Were her last words spoken to me. I think her name was Tori?

As I'm walking, I bump into someone. I fall to the ground, dropping all the papers I was holding, including my water bottle.
"I am so sorry!" I blurt out. I was planning on being silent today, but my inner abnegation came out. I hated it.

The man I knocked over had dropped his stuff as well. He had piercings almost everywhere. He looks at me for a minute, then gives me a death stare. "Way to go, new girl." And he collects his stuff and walks away.

I start to pick up my stuff when I notice another girl was picking them up as well. She finishes, then hands them to me.
"Thank you." I say quietly.
She smiles. "No problem. I don't recall seeing you around here before? My names Christina."

I look at Cristina. Her skin was a milky chocolate, or hazel like. She had short black hair that reached just to her shoulders. I smile back at her and answer. "My names Beatrice, but call me Tris. I just moved here from Buffalo, Illinois."
"Sweet! Can I see your class schedule?"
I nod and pass over my schedule.
"It looks like we have the same classes besides first and last hour. I have Health, and you have computer software. In last hour it looks like you have Explore Science, and I have Shop. I'll show you to your first class for you so you don't get lost!"
I smile bright. "Thank you, but you don't have to do that."
"Well it's too late, I'm doing that!"
We walk down the slightly crowded hallways. She tells me about all the people I should meet, and stay away from. I try to keep as much notes in my head as possible. When I reach my room, I say thanks and wave her goodbye.
