Part 23: Train Me

"I have something for you," Ren announced once they arrived in the training room. The glass had been replaced perfectly. It looked as if nothing had happened to it in the first place.

"What is it?" Astra responded curiously. Ren proceeded to reach underneath the side of his cape,
and unhook something from his belt.

"I have made this for you," Ren carefully held a small, metal tube in both of his gloved hands. Astra knew what it was.

She cautiously grabbed the tube from his hands as her fingers explored each, and every precisely carved groove.

Her thumb ran over a smooth button as she aimed the handle away from her. She pressed the button, and with one swift movement, a searing hot, red blade poured out of the handle.

Astra's eyes lit up with fascination as she began swaying the saber around with her hand. She watched the way the fiery blade cut through the cold air around her.

She had never felt more powerful.

"This is amazing!" Astra smiled wildly as she stuck the blade out in front of her.

"I think I'm in love," Astra chuckled as she moved the red, hot flame in front of her eyes.

"Thank you," Astra pressed the button once more, and the blade retracted.

"Thank you so much!" Astra grinned as she turned towards Ren.

"You're welcome," Ren replied before drawing his own saber.

"Now, let us begin," he commanded as his crossed blade lit up in his hands.

"This is what I've been waiting for," Astra smirked as she drew her new weapon.

The two stood across from each other as they both held their lightsabers parallel to the floor.

"Lesson one," Ren began as he slowly began to walk around an invisible perimeter. Astra mimicked his movements as they both began following each other in an circular pattern.

"Never let your guard down," Ren added, and Astra exhaled sharply through her nose.

"Well duh," she laughed. Ren didn't reply. He just continued to follow her around the circle they had made.

They followed each other for quite some time, until Ren struck out of the blue. He lurched forwards, hitting her blade from the top, and sending it down to the floor with a flurry of sparks.

"You let your guard down," he grinned before backing up, and moving his blade away from hers.

"You little snake!" Astra teased jokingly.

"Snake?" Ren scoffed as he jumped forwards once more. But this time, Astra caught him. She lifted her blade into the air as the began to parry back, and fourth.

"You heard me," Astra grunted through the sounds of sizzling light as the blades collided with each other.

"I don't recall snakes being able to fight like this," Ren mocked as he skillfully lured Astra into a corner.

"You're ridiculous," Astra teased once more before realizing how close she now was to the wall.

Oh shit

Astra thought as she used her foot as leverage against the wall. She outstretched her leg behind her as she analyzed the little space she had left.

Ren continued to push her deeper and deeper into the corner. His stance was wide, and his arms were stiff in front of him. With one final hit, their blades sizzled together as Ren pushed his face towards hers.
