The quartet sat on top of Simon's van as they waited for the band's turn to play at their spot, more like Maureen, Clary and Simon did, Eden sat in the driver's seat in order to make sure that no one stole their van. "My mom is so overprotective lately." Clary complains from her spot on the roof of the van, making her sister figure sigh quietly, she knew that Clary had understood that something was going on, how could she not she was a Shadowhunter.

"So, do you remember in Aliens, when the alien queen was defending her eggs from Ripley? " Simon questions, making the two girls on top of the van frown at his analogy, while Eden merely rolled her eyes and looked back down at her phone to check the time, praying to God that the time for them to enter to be near. "In this scenario, is my mom Ripley or the alien queen?" the ginger quizzes, quirking a brow at the brunette boy.

The same brunette boy who replies in a chirpy tone "Both." which earns once more confused looks rather than understanding one "A mother defending her young." at this Clary snorts "Defending me from what?" she then glances down at the steele in her hands "I spend all day in an art studio. My life couldn't be more mundane. Besides, I really don't know much about when she was young." 

Eden cleared her throat, successfully reminding Clary of the few stories that her father had told them over the years and the continuations or counter-stories Jocelyn told them. "Of course with the exception of the occasional story here and there that Luke tells." The ginger corrects. "Oh, just do what I do and get all the dirt from your relatives." Maureen claims, shifting in her seat and fixing her skirt.

"I would if I could, but she doesn't have any, with the exception of Luke and Eden. And my... my dad died before I was born." The ginger replied, watching as her sister figure finally popped her head out of the van and smiled up at her. Even though she knew more than Clary regarding most stuff, she knew just as much as Clary regarding their families, no mother for Eden and no father for Clary, and no family that they could contact.

"So, you have no one? No uncles, no aunts, no third cousins, twice removed?" The dark colour-skinned woman frowned, "No, just me, Clary, Jocelyn and my dad." Eden replied, bringing everyone's attention back to her before Simon stated "It's why the Lewis clan has added five chairs to every seder since pre-school." Clary hummed and Eden groaned. "One for Clary, one for Jocelyn, one for Eden, one for Luke and one for Elijah."

The best friends agreed while Eden mutters "You mean hell." Maureen frowns at this new information and can't help but question "You guys don't think that's a little bit suspicious? You not knowing anything about your family? Your mom and your dad could be hiding some deep, dark secret." Clary laughed while Eden chuckled humourlessly as she knew the truth before claiming "Our parents would never keep us in the dark. And all we know is all we need." 

"But imagine it's something terrible that they are keeping from you?" Maureen pressed, "Then they're keeping it secret for a damned reason don't you think? At least until we're able to process the information with a big person's brain." Eden snapped, disliking the fact that the pianist for the band was making comments about her and Clary's life as if she knew something.

The dark-skinned woman opened her mouth when the alarm on Simon's phone went off, indicating that it was time for them to go in, which meant that she couldn't say what she was going to. Then once everyone was on the ground and had their things Clary turned to her sister, her slender and pale hand grabbing hers, a silent comfort that Eden desperately needed as not to phase and rip Maureen to shreds.

"Go on, make sure Simon doesn't miss the key in the chorus." the werewolf whispered before kissing the younger girl's forehead, Clary nodded and followed after the duo, leaving Eden alone at last.
