Before the group of Shadowhunters now stood a decent-sized wolf with golden eyes, their posture showing that they were ready to pounce at them and rip them to shred, something that would usually have Shadowhunters backing away and running for their lives, but not these hunters, and truth be told Eden was rather happy about it.
A stupid and foolish hunter ran towards her with his blade raised, resembling a child playing with a wooden sword, ready to strike her down and kill her, had a newcomer allowed him, a wolf pounced on the hunter and tackled them to the ground, gripping their head with their jaw and snapping them, killing the man effectively.
Eden growled gently in greeting causing the other wolf to reply, locking their neon green eyes with her golden ones, of course, Eden knew who this person was, it was her best friend. Another hunter, although clearly scared, let out a humourless chuckle, he looked around at his mates, nodding at them in a way that told the two wolves that they were going to attack them.
Their attack was uncoordinated and sloppy at least that's what the werewolves would say, but it sure did beat the living hell of training with their own kind.
The sound of teeth snapping, pained groans and loud growls filled the large living room, followed by the occasional thund of the bodies falling on the ground and the clattering of their swords. And sooner than Eden and the other werewolf had expected the attack was over and the living room was littered with the bodies.
The sound of bones breaking and shifting were heard, something that would tell anyone alive that Eden and the other werewolf were shifting back to humans, a process that in the beginning had been as painful as being hit by 10 thousand trucks or shot over a million times in every second of it, now was almost painless, in fact it actually relaxed the werewolves muscles, unless of course, it was a transformation resultant in pain.
"Jocelyn won't be happy with the tears on the couch." the familiar voice that belonged to Maia Roberts bounced off the walls bringing Eden's eyes to the indeed torn into couches, "Jocelyn is gone. She was kidnapped." the young Garroway woman replied, cleaning her mouth with the back of her hand, watching as fresh blood coated it, she didn't need to see Maia to know what emotion was on her face.
"I don't know who did it, but I reckon that Valentine and the circle have something to do with it." A small scoff left her lips as she glanced down in disdain at the bodies on the ground, "Why else would Circle members be here?" "Did they find Clary as well? How did Jocelyn know them?" Maia questioned, stepping closer to her friend, careful not to step on blood and slip. "Clary's at the nearest Institute, they didn't find her." Eden started, finally looking at the dark-skinned woman next to her.
"We're staying there, dad told me to keep her safe and with the pack's disdain for shadowhunters they would turn Clary away." Maia nodded in understanding at her words, placing a hand on her shoulder comfortingly, "Why are you here?" she then questioned, frowning slightly.
"Luke said you were back earlier today so I was coming to visit, but then I saw past the glamour and heard fast movement, along with them running in." Maia confessed, looking straight into the Garroway woman's eyes in the moonlit room, "Why did the first one call you Amatis Graymark?" Eden shrugged, walking away from Maia and towards the kitchen sink, turning the water on and scrubbing her hands.
"Theo did say earlier, when I told him that dad told that we'd been found, you Graymarks and your undying love for the Fairchilds." her voice was borderline annoyed and with clear reason. "Luke was a shadowhunter before he was a werewolf wasn't he?" Maia questioned, joining her in the kitchen, "Jocelyn's best friend since diapers and Valentine's parabatai until he backstabbed him." Eden chuckled humourlessly.
From the corner of Eden's eyes she could see that Maia's eyes grew so wide they looked like saucers, "Is that how..." she began, unknowing of how to continue without touching the supposedly touchy subject, the nearly taboo subject for all werewolves that were not born werewolves, how they were turned.
"Dad had no idea that it was an ambush when he brought me with him. Valentine had told him and I quote from dad 'Collect the info from the shadowhunter at the edge of the border with France and come back' It was Jocelyn who saved us apparently." Eden told her friend, the first time she told anyone since being told when she turned 18.
"You don't remember this?" Maia questioned worriedly, "I was barely in primary school Maia, I like my father were Shadowhunters, turned werewolves because of Valentine. Dad and Jocelyn told me when I turned 18." a slow and understanding nod came from the younger werewolf.
"And how are you staying with the nephilim?" Maia questioned curiously, it wasn't like she was going to blabber to the pack, Eden and Luke were the only ones that actually gave her a moment of their time, unlike the pack that only did that for scouts and when they were drunk.
"I'll tell you another time. Can you tell Theo we ran into problems with the circle, tell him that i didn't want to risk exposing the den to Valentine?" she questioned afterwards, cleaning her hands with the kitchen towel. Maia nodded and stepped away from the counter, wrapping her arms around Eden tightly. "I'm glad you're home." she whispered to the older woman before turning around and leaving.
"So am I." Eden replied after she was long gone while her eyes looked around the living room, Maia had been right, Jocelyn would have freaked.
