Jayda's POV
A week later, we didn't have to wear the uniform anymore, and today was basketball tryouts. There's no girls team, so I decided to try out for the boys team.
I walked into the girls locker room, my gym bag slung over my shoulder. No-one was in there yet, because Vixen practice wasn't until later.
I changed into my gym clothes, and headed to the gym with Fangs and Sweet Pea, who were both also trying out.
"Sorry, but Vixen practice is not until later." Reggie said, smirking.
"I'm actually here for basketball tryouts." I responded, and folded my arms. All the Northside kids started laughing.
"You've obviously never seen her play." Sweet Pea said, a matter of factly.
"Prove it. Prove you're good enough for the boys team." Reggie demanded. I rolled my eyes.
"Fine." I said. I moved away from Sweet Pea and Fangs. I grabbed a ball from off the rack, stepped onto the court and turned to face the group.
Reggie looked confused, but then I threw the ball over my shoulder, and it successfully landed in the net.
Sweet Pea and Fangs smiled at me. We used to play basketball all the time as kids, and I'd always beat them. It was something we'd always do after school.
Reggie and hit Northside buddies didn't stay anything. Then, Coach Clayton came in to start tryouts.
"Can we get started then?" I asked, smirking.
We spilt into teams, and played against each other. I was with Fangs and Sweet Pea, and a couple other Northsiders.
Our team beat Reggie's team, and Reggie wasn't happy about it. Plus, Sweet Pea also knocked him over when going to shoot a basket.
"You were great." Sweet Pea said, as we walked out the gym together.
"I know." I responded, making him laugh lightly. We reached the boys locker room.
"I'll see you in a bit." I said, and I carried on walking down the hallway. I went in the girls locker room. Still empty. I quickly showered, and I was wearing just my bra and underwear when I heard the door open.
I looked around the corner, and thought it was just the Vixens coming in for an extra practice but it wasn't.
"Sweet Pea! You're not allowed in here." I said, and pulled on some shorts, then a t-shirt.
"You know, you looked really hot when you were showing them how amazing you are." he responded, and leant against the locker next to me.
"Oh really?" I questioned. I closed my locker, and faced him.
"Yeah," he said, and kissed me roughly. He pushed me up against the lockers, where we continued to make out.
Then, suddenly the door flies open, and the voice of Cheryl Blossom echos through the locker room.
"Find somewhere else to make out, you hobos." she echoed, making us break apart.
"I'll see you later." I said to Sweet Pea. He smirked at me, before turning and walking out the room.
Cheryl has the rest of the Vixens behind her, and they're all looking at me.
"What?" I snapped. I turned back to my locker and take out my Serpent jacket. I tied up my sneakers, and put on my jacket.
As soon as I put it on, they all start whispering. I ignore them, and sling my bag back over my shoulder.
"You know you're not allowed to wear that in school." One of them dared to speak up.
"Does it look like I give a fuck?" I spat back. She stays silent. I put my bag over my shoulder, and shove my shoulder into her, hard, as I passed.
I walked down the steps of the high school, and spotted Sweet Pea and Fangs waiting by our bikes.
"What took you so long?" Fangs asked, as I approached them.
"Bitch in the locker room." I responded, and got on my bike.
"Coach told us who made the team." Sweet Pea began.
"And?" I questioned.
"We all made the team." he continued. "Practice starts tomorrow."
-----
That night, I walked down the streets of the Southside, and headed to the grocery store as we were out of food.
I fingered the knife in my pocket, it's always dangerous on the Southside of town. I was walking down a road, and heard a scream from the alleyway.
I ran towards the sound, and saw two Ghoulies trying to mug none other than Betty Cooper.
"Hey!" I yelled.
"Stay out of this." one of them hissed. Scratch, Malachai's second in command. I pulled out my switchblade, and flipped it open.
"Get away from her." I shouted, and pointed the tip of the knife to him.
"That's supposed to scare me?" Scratch scoffed.
"Yes. It is. Now get away from her before I kill you." I responded.
"It's not worth it." the other one said to Scratch. They both ran down the opposite end of the alley. I went over to Betty.
"What the hell are you doing on the Southside of town?" I asked her.
"I-I was g-going to t-talk to J-Jughead." she stammered.
"He's not home." I replied. "Do you want me to take you home?" She nodded. We walked to Sunnyside, where we got on my bike, and I drove her home.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, as she got of my bike, and handed me the helmet.
"I guess." Betty responded. "Bye."
"Bye." I returned. I then drove back to Sunnyside.
Betty's POV
After Jayda had dropped me off, I quietly headed inside.
"Don't tell me you were on the back of Jughead's motorcycle." I hear my mom say from the living room.
"No, it was Jayda's." I responded, and walked over to her.
"Oh, FP's other kid." Mom replied. "And why was she driving you home?"
"Some gang members tried to mug me." I said, quietly.
"What?! Elizabeth! I bet they were Serpents too. And why were you on the Southside anyway?" she rambled.
"I went to see Jughead. And it wasn't Serpents, it was Ghoulies." I cut her off.
"Go to your room, Elizabeth." Mom said, and I sighed before going upstairs.
