Jayda's POV

The next day, the rehearsal continued. Sweet Pea had come to rehearsal yet again, because he wanted to watch.

The first thing I had to do, other than change into my outfit, was perform 'The World According To Chris'. I had to give Chuck a lap dance as part of the routine, and I'd told Sweet Pea about it this time. He'd complained, but allowed me to do so anyway.

"Guess what, ever since the world began. Same plot, everyone's been dumping on their fellow man. Pounding people they feel better than. I hope you're taking notes 'cause you feel everyone deserves a shot." I sang, performing the routine as I did so.

As I was performing, I honestly felt like Veronica.

"Get real, some of us have got it, girl. And some got squat. That's the truth, oh honey, like it or not." I continued. "I hate to break it to you. My daddy taught me you get no where being nice. So, now I'm sharing his advice: The world according to Chris is better to strike then get struck, better to screw then get screwed. You'd probably think it's bizarre. But that's the way things are."

I think one of the weirdest parts of that song, was when I was lifted by two guys.

"My daddy taught me who's on top and who's below." I continued to sing. "And now it's time I let you know. The world according to Chris is: better to punch than get punched. Better to burn than get burned. Learn that and you're gonna go far. 'Cause that's the way things are."

I now had to give Chuck the lap dance, while singing "Ha, na, na..." and so on.

"Let's party, people!" I had to yell, then back to singing. "The world according to Chris. The world according to Chris. The world according to Chris. The world according to Chris."

Then the song ended, and the crowd began to applaud. I heard Sweet Pea wolf-whistle loudly. I laughed at him, and blew the hair out of my face. Sweet Pea came to the side of the stage, and handed me a bottle of water.

"Okay, Jayda. I'm obsessed with everything that just happened." Kevin commented.

"Thanks, Kev." I responded, and took a drink of water.

After that, the only thing they had to practice was Tommy and Sue's love ballad, so Sweets took me home.

The next day, we sat in the circle of chairs, and Kevin was going to tell us all something.

"Due to some unforeseen circumstances," Kevin began. Fangs put it hand on Kevin's shoulder, but Kevin pushed it away. "Cheryl will no longer be playing the role of Carrie White."

"What? Why?" Almost everyone in the group asked.

"Let's just say that, Penelope Blossom isn't much of a stage mom." Kevin told us, he leaned towards Toni and whispered to her. Then, Toni got up and left.

"In the meantime, Cheryl's understudy will assume the role." Kevin announced.

"Understudy?" Ethel questioned.

"I appointed one after the sandbag incident." Kevin explained. "Midge Klump." I'd only spoken to Midge a few times, but she seemed like a really nice person. Everyone started clapping for her, and she smiled at everyone.

 -----

"Hey, Dad." I greeted my father, the next morning.

"Hello, Jay." He smiled.

"Are you coming tonight?" I asked him.

"I wouldn't miss it." He smiled again.

Then, before we knew it, it was opening night. I was in my dressing room, covering hickeys I'd been given last night with makeup.
