-chapter 2-
I walk down my front path, ignoring the shouts coming from my parents behind me. I continue walking down my street. After I turn the corner, no longer in the line of sight for my parents, I pull out my letter. I look at the list of things I would need.
A wand.
A bunch of books.
A cauldron.
Ect.
Where was I supposed to get all of this stuff? I turn the letter over and see that there's more writing.
Since your parents are Muggles (non-magic), these are the instructions on how to get to Diagon Alley in London.
I read through the instructions a couple of times. Then I shove the letter back in my bag.
Since I live right outside London, it doesn't take me long to get there. I follow the directions and soon I'm standing inside The Leaky Cauldron. I walk up to the counter.
"What can I get yer, miss?" The bar tender asks.
"Um..." I say. "I'm looking for Diagon Alley." He gives me a look, saying Shouldn't you already know how to get there? "I'm Muggle-born and my letter came late." I explain.
"Ah," he says, leaving from behind the counter coming up next to me. "Follow me." He walks over to a door and pushes it open. He walks through and I follow. There's a brick wall. He takes out a stick-wand- from his pocket and taps a series of bricks. Then the wall starts to move, leaving a doorway.
"There yer go, miss."
"Thank you," I say. "Can I use Muggle money?"
"No," he says. "You'll have to exchange yer Muggle money for some Wizard money at Gringotts."
"Oh. Thanks." I walk through the doorway, into Diagon Alley.
It's beautiful. Shops are on both sides of the pathway, people going in and out. There's people lining the street, probably getting school supplies, same as me. I walk up to a window and peer in. A young boy is getting fitted for robes. His mum and dad are there, looking him up and down. The mum nods her head, approving.
I move away from the window and spot my first destination: Gringotts. The bank. I start to make my way there, weaving in and out of people. When I finally reach it, I walk up the marble stairs and into the bank. I'm shocked. Goblins. Goblins! They're in charge of a bank?! I walk up to the nearest one.
"Excuse me?" He looks up. "Um... I need to exchange my Muggle money for some Wizard money, please?"
He reaches out his hand. I reach in my bag and grab my wallet. I dump all of my money is his hand, shoving my wallet back in my bag. He walks away, returning a few minutes later with a small pouch. He hands it to me. I can feel the weight of the coins. "Thank you."
I turn around and walk out of the bank. I put the pouch in my bag and head to the bookstore. I walk in, heading to the counter. There's a middle age woman standing there. Not many people must need books because there's not many people here. The woman looks at me, smiling.
"Hello, dear," she says. "How may I help you?"
"I just need some books for school." I say.
"Can I see the list?"
I reach into my bag once again and pull out my letter, handing it to her. She smiles. "Hogwarts, huh?" I nod. "And you just got your letter?"
"I'm Muggle-born," I explain. "I guess my letter got lost, since I just got it today."
