tokoyami didn't know how long he could keep this up 

first the beach trip 

garlic day 

the bat zoo 

and now horror movies with one of his best friends 

mezo shoji 

no, wait 

he wasn't his best friend

he was "tokoyami's" 

not "fumikage's" 

this hidden identity he had hidden behind 

the bird mask made it easy 

but at the same time very difficult

tokoyami was readying the popcorn with shoji 

and he had picked out a horror movie about vampires 

(perfect) he grumbled to himself 

"hope you're ready for a scare, vampires are the scariest things that I can think of" the octopus boy commented as they both sat on the couch 

"why do you think that," tokoyami asked hesitantly, trying to cover up the fear in his voice 

"the whole drinking blood thing, and the way they walk, it's so creepy" shoji replied with a shudder 

(stupid stereotypes) he cursed to himself 

tokoyami found it insulting 

as a vampire himself 

no, he did not drink blood, he didn't creep the way that people see in the movies 

and they are not scary 

yes he had no reflection 

yes he had to wear litres of sun cream when stepping outside 

but he was not a bad person 

everyone always assumes that vampires are satan spawns, filled with evil and darkness 

but if they ever met one and got to truly know them

then they would see that they were wrong 

he did have the powers of a vampire 

turning into a bat 

super speed, strength and durability 

he did not, however, the sparkle in the sunlight like some movie interpretations, which he was very thankful for 

"it's just a movie's representation of them, you do not how they actually act," tokoyami said with a grumble 

shoji nodded behind a pillow he was hiding behind 

tokoyami sighed as he turned off the movie 

shoji was shocked by the sudden light disappearing 

"I was going to tell you something about myself today, but based on your reaction I know it would be foolish" he commented as he tried to walk away 

but shoji swiftly got up and pulled at his arm to make him stop 

which made the birds head fall of 

(while in the movie he was undoing the straps ready for the big reveal, but didn't have time to tie them back together) 

shoji made a startled noise as he looked at his best friend 

his face was paler than a ghosts 

his eyes seemed to glow 

and his open mouth showed two glistening fangs 

"you're...you're" shoji tried to say, but he kept stuttering on the words 

"yes, yes I'm a terrifying vampire, I drink the fruit of the reddest blood apples and sleep in a bed that I call "my coffin" " he said in annoyance 

shoji stopped in silence 

how had he never realised this about him 

was his fear so big that it covered him away from the truth 

and those comments 

he had said so much that he was surprised the small male was not shouting at him 

"tokoyami I am so sorry, I didn't know" he tried to apologize 

"yeah, nobody knows, I felt like I could trust you with this, but it's clear you only see myself as a monster" he cried, trying to yank his arm away 

"no, that's only because of the stories I've been told about them, I know that you're not evil, you're one of the kindest most considerate people I know," shoji said, tears to his eyes 

tokoyami stopped and looked deep into his friend's eyes 

"I will never tell anyone about this, and thank you for letting me into your life, I would love to know more about this part of your world so I can understand it more, I want to know everything about you, good and bad, I don't care" shoji finished with a sigh 

tokoyami smiled, hugging shoji which he happily accepted 

"thank you," he said with tears rolling down his cheeks 

it was such a big relief to finally tell someone 

"so you know the garlic thing?" shoji was about to ask 

"yes, I can't eat it, burns my throat" tokoyami laughed 

"what about the whole super speed?" shoji asked more excitedly 

"pizza or Chinese?" tokoyami asked

his arms filled with selections of food 

causing shoji to give a sound of glee 

"why don't you use these skills when you're fighting? I mean I know you have dark shadow but-" shoji was about to ask before tokoyami interjected 

"I do not want people catching onto my secret, there are still many people in this world that would kill a vampire without hesitation" tokoyami replied sadly 

there was a moment of silence before shoji replied 

"you don't have to worry about that with me, I will never betray your trust" and closing tokoyami into a bear hug 

"shoji?" tokoyami smiled with a happy sigh, showing off his fangs 

"yes?" the octopus boy asked 

"call me fumikage"
