(This chapter might be a little depressing, but it gets better I promise. Sorry for the wait, I love you all so much!! <3)
The ride to the schoolhouse was quiet, other than the two adults discussing Hal every so often. Megamind was arrogant enough to try and guilt-trip Roxanne by bringing up how she'd left him alone in the rain after mentioning he'd misplaced the invisible car, which also held the diffuser gun, the only thing that could take away Hal's powers. To both your surprise and amusement, the second he asked her if she ever looked back, she hit the breaks with a firm: "No!" and since Megamind wasn't wearing a seatbelt his head slammed into the windshield.
"OH! My giant blue head!" He groaned in pain, and you could hardly contain your laughter.
"Whoops, I guess we're here." Roxanne smirked, climbing out of the van and helping you get out as well.
You sighed through your nose, noticing the old, tattered building just ahead of you.
The sign at the top read: Lil' Gifted School. "For lil' gifted kids."
"So, this is where he hid it. After all these years... My old shoolhouse."
The way he mispronounced school almost made you giggle, but you restrained yourself. Sure, that may have been cute, but he's still a jerk.
After getting the door open and walking down a few steps, Roxanne kept a hand over your back to make sure you weren't falling behind. Normally you'd shoo her off, but you just weren't in the mood.
"You know, I think there's an apology in order, for both of us." Roxanne pointed out, patting you a few times.
Was she trying to... stick up for you..?
"Okay, that would be nice, but make it quick." Megamind said.
He ran over to the large metal door at the end of the hall.
"We have much more pressing matters to deal with." He added.
Roxanne groaned, giving him a look that screamed: "Seriously?"
You on the other hand weren't even surprised at this point.
Megamind slowly pushed the door open, and you were presented with an unsurprisingly luxurious room decorated to suit the late hero's taste, or at least that's what you assumed since he had several pictures of himself hanging on the walls.
"Wow! I can't believe he kept all this stuff..." Megamind whispered, and then sighed when he noticed a familiar fluffy, pure white cape on a mannequin nearby. You decided to ignore him and just snoop a little. You heard Roxanne say something but you didn't really care, you were too busy inspecting the guitars hanging on the wall in the very back of the room.
"There's no way Metro munch was gonna be a musician." You scoffed, just imagining him trying to play one of these made you want to roll your eyes. Sure, even you thought it was rude to speak ill of the deceased, but you couldn't help it.
"Hey, come over and look at this!" Roxanne called suddenly, and you jumped slightly when you heard Megamind tumble onto the floor before quickly picking himself back up with a crazed look on his face.
"What is it?! What did you find?!" He'd practically shouted, and you sighed in annoyance when you noticed him wearing the cape he'd been eyeing earlier. You noticed Roxanne snap out of the brief shock she was in before waving you over, and you held back another eye roll before walking over.
"Look! This glass has ice cubes in it!" She pointed out, and you realized she had a point.
"What the..?" You raised a brow.
