Should've Listened- Sam Mewis

"Okay Miss. Y/N, lets see how your doing." My chemo doctor said pulling up my chart. He sighed and looked down, pushing his glasses up. I knew this was a bad sign. "Y/N, your not getting better. I think you should tell Sam and your family."

I shook my head and looked down to my fingers. "I don't want anybody worrying about me. I'm strong enough to fit this." I said and he frowned.

"I'll see you next week then Y/N. Please consider telling them." My doctor said and I nodded, grabbing my phone and bag. I climbed off the chair and left the room, waving to the doctors I knew while leaving.

I walked out of the hospital and made my way to my car. My phone starting buzzing and I picked it up.

"Where are you Y/N? Sam is worried and so is the team." Tobin said and I sighed

"I had to be somewhere. I'm coming right now." I say starting my car and she scoffs.

"Y/N your always "coming". You're never actually here." Tobin says and I sigh again, taking a deep breath in.

"Tobin, I have to drive. I'll see you there." I say and hang up my phone. I lean back and turn on cruise control. I turn on the radio and Madison Beer comes on. I tap my finger to her song.

As I pull into the restaurant my phone starts buzzing loudly, but I ignore it and turn off my car. I grab my phone and bag. I rub my eyes and get out. I shut the door and make my way into the other part of the restaurant for private parties.

I make my way back to the room and everyone turns when I walk in.

"Look who it is. Miss. Y/N the cheater herself." Christen says and I feel my face contort at her mean words. She's never mean to me.

"W-What?" I let out and look over to Sam. Rose and Sonnet are hugging her and she looks like she's crying. I try to walk over to her, but my older cousin puts her muscular arm in front of me.

"You've been cheating on her this whole time. I thought you actually had some humanity left." Tobin says and I shake my head confused. I never cheated.

"Sam..baby, I didn't cheat. I was somewhere else." I say and I hear her sob out.

"Just because you have a bad life and your parents left you, doesn't mean you can fuck up everyone else's life Y/N. I knew my mom should'v never took you in. You're worthless." She spits out and I feel my heart shatter.

Tobin was the closest thing I had to a sister. I told her everything and for her to mention my past, sucks. I push past her and walk over to Sam.

"Samantha, I would never cheat on you. I love you!" I yell out and Sam stands up. Her eyes are puffy and red, she looks awful and I just want to hug her.

"Go home Y/N. We're over." She says and I shake my head.

"I NEVER CHEATED!" I yelled and she slapped me across the face. My hand went to my cheek as tears sprang into my eyes almost immediately.

"Y/N.." Sam said reaching for my face concerned.

"no. don't touch me." I whisper out and turn. The girls are quiet and I sniffle. I run out of the restaurant and get into my car. I turn on my car and speed off.

As I'm driving, I fall into a coughing fit and cover my mouth. I pull away my arm and look at my sleeve. Blood. I look up and clutch the steering wheel.

I continue coughing and blood is spilling all over me. I clench my eyes closed as I pulled into the ER. I stopped in front and got out. I ran into the ER and doctors immediately ran up to me seeing my current state.

"Call my management." I get out and the doctors pick me up. They run me into a room and inject all different types of liquid in me.

Eventually, I sigh out and feel clam. I look up and the doctor comes in. She's tall and has long black hair.

"I'm Hope. Doctor Hope. Y/N, I don't know how to say this.."

"I'm dying aren't I?" I cut her off and she nods. "Just please, give this to my girlfriend when she gets here. It explains everything." I say handing her my phone.

"I promise. I'll stay with you Y/N. Please tell me if you need anything at all." Hope says and I nod.

"I love her. Tell her that. The tall one with blonde hair." I say and Hope grabs my hand

"I will." Hope says and I nod.

"Tell Tobin, I love her and loved being her sister from another mister. Tell her I forgive her for the mean stuff she said because I know she's going to beat herself up for that." I say and Hope chuckles.

"Of course." Hope says and I feel my eye-lids getting really heavy. "Go towards the light Y/N. Welcome home."

I walk towards the light and then...everything was bright and happy.

TOBIN POV

"HURRY UP!" I yelled to the driver. I was in tears, along with the half of the team I was in a car with. Sam was in the back sobbing.

Y/N's managers had just informed us she had cancer. Y/N wasn't cheating she just didn't want us to worry about her and now she's dying because I don't ever listen or check in on her.

"shhh." Rose says to Sam and Sam starts crying again.

"I slapped HEr." Sam says, voice cracking.

"She'll forgive you. We'll get there and give her hugs and kisses. Make sure she feels loved and she'll know then we're all there for her." Mal says and I sigh out.

We arrive and I run out of the car the minute it comes to a stop. I run into the ER and straight to the front desk.

"Y/N is in Room 112 Tobin. It's not good." She says and I nod. I run to the hallway and bust open the door.

When the door opens I'm met with the most horrifying, heartbreaking sight. My baby cousin, SISTER FOR GODS SAKE is dead. Laying there with no pulse.

"She's been gone for a couple minutes. She wanted me to tell you she loves you and forgives you. She doesn't want you to feel at blame for this." The doctor next to Y/N says and I fall to my knees.

"oh god.." I hear Sam's quiet voice behind me and I turn. I see Mal and Christen trying to pull Sam back. Tears in everyones eyes. "Y/N! BABY! PLEASE!" Sam yells and I sob out. I stand up and stumble over to Sam.

I pull her into my arms and she is shaking. "We should've listened."
