Kennedy Pt.2- Mal Pugh

"Step into..." Mal said motioning for our 3 year old daughter to step into her pull-up. "That's mommy's baby girl." She finishes, tickling Kennedy's tummy.

Kennedy let out a giggle and I smiled.

"Mommy! Read me a story!" Kennedy yelled jumping onto her bed.

"Hmmm, what story today?" I say going through the books on her shelf.

"None of dos'" She says, unable to pronounce 'those'.

"Then what baby?" Mal adds and sits down next to me. Mal pulls me into her arms and rubs my small baby bump.

We got pregnant 3 months ago, so I'm still in the 1st trimester.

"What you gonna name em'?" Kennedy asks getting distracted. She stills hates the idea of having a sibling because she's scared we're not going to pay attention to her anymore.

When we try to convince her that will never happen, she throws a temper tantrum.

"I don't baby. It took us a while to pick your beautiful name." I say ruffling her soft hair.

"Kennedy not cool." She says and Mal gasps.

"Baby, Kennedy is the most gorgeous name. Mommy and me debated for months on what to name her and everyone we've talked to, loves the name Kennedy. You know Aunt Madison?" Mal says referring to my sister.

"Maddy Beer!" Kennedy yells and giggles.

"Yes Aunt Maddy...she loves your name! So much! There's pictures of you laced all over her house. She even had your name tattooed on her hip!" Mal says and Kennedy's eyes light up which makes me smile.

"Tattoo? Lemme see dat'" She says and I smile, grabbing my phone. I pull up my sisters contact.

I FaceTime Madison and hand Kennedy the phone.

"Ken! Who gave you the phone!" I hear Madison say and I smile seeing Kennedy giggle. Mal starts rubbing her back.

"I wan' see your tattoo!" She says excitedly and Madison smiles.

"Who told you I had a tattoo?" Madison says making a goofy face that makes Kennedy giggle again.

"Mommy and Mama silly!" Kennedy yells and claps her hands. "Show me!"

"Okay..fine!" Madison sets the phone and and lifts up the side of her shirt. The tattoo comes into view and Kennedy smiles so big.

Mal rubs my hand now and I lean my head on her shoulder.

"I got it so I could always feel close to my favorite niece. Now, I want you to remember something Ken..." Madison says putting down her shirt, "Mommy and Mama have been telling me with the new baby coming, your scared they won't love you anymore. Me, Mommy, and Mama will always love you equally. You hear me? Always." Madison says and Kennedy smiles.

"Always?!" Kennedy says happily and Mal and I grab her hands.

"Always." We say looking at her.

"Told you my love.." Madison says and we all smile.

"I love my name!" Kennedy yells and we all giggle. "Aunt Maddy? Tell me story wit Mommy and Mama."

"Okay...lets start with how Mommy and Mama met." Madison said and Mal and I looked at each other and smiled.

Life is good.
