Colby's POV

"Brother, give her space for a minute." Sam said and held me back as I started running after Cora. "I need to know she's okay.." I said and started to push against him, "she's okay Colby, she just needs time to think..this is going to be hard for her." Kat said and put her hand on my arm. "I know, she just...I know she's going to think that she's gonna become her mom no matter how many times I tell her she won't be. I hate seeing her like that.." I said and looked towards the door, hoping she would open it and come back inside.

"What's going on?" Tara said bringing my attention to her, "Cora is freaking out." Kat said and let go of my arm. "I know. She's gonna be fine though, both of you will be. I usually hate kids but I have a feeling I'm gonna love that little nugget." I shook my head, "you better love that little nugget." I warned then turned to the door again, "how long should I wait until I go out there." I mumbled as Sam gave me a sympathetic smile. "Give her like fifteen minutes. Come on, let's make her a snack or something." I knew he was trying to distract me from rushing out there to talk to her. I let him push me slightly towards the kitchen and went to make her a snack.

We decided on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, since that's pretty much all we had. It took about 10 minutes and honestly I couldn't wait any longer, I had to make sure she was okay. When I opened the door I couldn't see her, I was expecting her to be pacing around. Instead she was curled into ball, leaning against the tree in front of our driveway. As I walked up to her I realized she was asleep, causing a small smile to form. "Come on baby." I said and lifted her up, "Colby..." She mumbled and leaned into my chest as I pulled her into me. "Shhh you can sleep, I'm just taking you inside." I said and she smiled, her eyes still closed. "You're going to be a great dad." She mumbled causing my chest to swell. "And you're going to be a great mom." I said and kissed her head, she sighed and leaned into me fully as I opened the door. I walked her up to my bedroom and set her on the bed.

She curled into a ball and fell back into a deep sleep. I walked over to my desk, which still had the pregnancy test sitting on it. I picked it up and looked at the two pink lines, smiling to myself. We weren't ready to be parents but luckily we had some time to prepare.

I couldn't wait to see Cora in her element. She couldn't see how maternal she was, but I have seen it all along. She cared for people in a way that I couldn't wrap my head around, she would take the shirt off her back and give it to someone who needed it more than her. She would do anything for the ones she loved. I couldn't wait to see how happy this baby is going to make her, I could already imagine the shimmer in her eyes, that would make me fall for her even more. I couldn't help but think of our future together. That's when the thought came to my mind.

I wanted to marry her.

It obviously wouldn't be for a while, but I knew that she was the one for me. There was never going to be anyone else, she was the love of my life. I put the pregnancy test back on my desk and turned to her. She was asleep but her eyebrow was creased, she almost looked distressed. She was having a nightmare. "It's okay baby, I'm here." I said quietly and slid into the bed with her, taking her into my arms. She instinctively nuzzled herself into me as a small whimper fell from her lips. "Easy, baby. I've got you." I whispered and tucked her head under my chin.

She sighed with content and relaxed into me more. I let my hand trail down to her lower belly, right where our child was growing. I have to admit I'm a little scared but I meant when I said I supported her in any decision she made. This was her body, she had the choice to abort if she wanted to. That wasn't what I wanted at all but she shouldn't be afraid to have the option if she wanted it.

I heard a knock on the door, "come in." I said quietly, looking at the door as Devyn walked in. "Hey Dev, what's up." I said quietly, trying not to wake Cora. "Just wanted to check up on you...it's some pretty big news." She said quietly and sat on the couch, bringing her knees to her chest. "Yeah, I'm okay though. Scared. But really excited." I said and rubbed Cora's back soothingly.

"I proud of you Colby," Devyn said and smiled slightly at me. "Why?" I questioned, "a year ago if this were to happen you would have reacted so differently." She said and I nodded, "yeah. I guess she brought the best parts of me out." I said and looked down at Cora. She looked so peaceful as she slept, her head resting on my chest. "You want to marry her don't you." She said with a small laugh, "I really do. Not for a couple years, but I want her to be my wife one day." I said and felt my heart beat faster. I really really loved this girl.

"How are you holding up?" I asked as Devyn smiled sadly at me, "I'm okay. Corey and I want to be friends. We still love eachother very much but being a couple wasn't good for us anymore." I nodded, "he was very protective..I just couldn't deal with it anymore." She continued as tears pooled in her eyes, "I still love him though." She said with a watery laugh. I got up slowly, and positioned Cora so she was laying on the bed.

I got up and wrapped my arms around Devyn, "it's gonna be okay. You guys are both strong. I know you'll get through this." I said and let her cry into my shoulder. Devyn was like a sister to me, it hurt me to see her hurt, but it hurt me to see Corey hurt as well. This was just a tough situation. They were both mature though, they would handle this the right way. I was sure of it.
