When we finally opened the store it got pretty busy, keeping Kat and I occupied for a majority of the shift. It flew by as the hours ticked away and we were sent home. "What are you doing tonight girlie?" Kat said as we grabbed our stuff from the locker room, "I don't know, Colby is picking me up but I think I have to clean up my apartment." She sighed, "is the damage bad?" I nodded, "how's yours looking?" She chuckled, "it's trashed. Sam is going to help me put it back together." I nodded as the familiar red corolla pulled up in front of the store, "well I'll see you later alright?" I said as we walked out the front door, "yep! Good luck with the apartment." She said and waved to Colby, then walked to her own car.
I got in Colby's car and he greeted me with a kiss, "hey babe how was work?" He said and started to drive back to my place, "it was fine. What did you do?" I asked as he laced his fingers through mine, "take a look." He said a nodded his head to the back seat. My ukulele was sat in the back of the car, it looked like it was never broken. I jutted my lip out in a pout as he chuckled, "thank you for doing that, babe." I said and kissed his hand I was holding. "I told you I would fix it." He said and turned into my apartment complex. "I know but you didn't have to do that. I love you so much." He parked and looked at me, smiling so hard his dimples were popping out. "I love you too." He said and got out of the car.
I got out of the car and was greeted by Colby's arms wrapping around my waist. "I missed you." He said as he pulled me closer to him. "I saw you 8 hours ago." I laughed as I grabbed his hand walking to my apartment. As I unlocked the door, I expected to see a crumbled mess when I opened it but instead it looked like nothing was even damaged in the first place. "Colby!" I said and turned around to see him smiling big again. "Cora!" He mocked dramatically as I smirked, "you didn't have to do this alone...thank you." I said and wrapped my arms around his waist, hiding my face in his chest.
"Anything for you, love." He said and kissed the top of my head. "You wanna go get some food?" He mumbled into my hair. "Of course." I said and backed away. "Let me change real quick." I said and turned away from him, walking into my bedroom.
I couldn't comprehend how I got so lucky. I couldn't believe that Colby would fix my apartment up for me while I worked. I was so so lucky.
As I picked out an outfit I heard him humming out in the living room. My heart fluttered at the sound of his voice. I pulled on my shirt and walked out of the room to join him, Colby was standing there with a bundle of flowers in his hand. "Babe." I said quietly and walked to him. He smirked and pulled me into a hug, "why are you doing all of this?" I mumbled into his chest. "Can't a guy give his girlfriend some flowers without it being a special occasion?" He said and chuckled. "I feel like I don't deserve it" I mumbled and stepped back, reaching for the door handle to leave the apartment. "Hey hey hey. Why would you ever think that?" He said gently pulling me back. "You're too nice to me. I don't deserve you and everything you do for me." He smiled slightly and kissed my head, "you deserve all of this and more, my love. Now let's go get some food."
We walked out to his car hand in hand, Colby looked nervous about something. I didn't want to pry but it was bothering me that I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
"You okay?" I said once he started driving. "Yeah, just a little stressed." He said and grabbed my hand, holding it in his lap. "About what?" He sighed and kissed the hand he was holding, "I wanted to ask you something." My heart stopped, my mind now racing with a million things he could be asking me. "Oh...um..okay...shoot." I said anxiously. He chuckled a bit, "I just wanted to ask if you would come to Kansas with me...I want you to meet my parents." I breathed a small sigh of relief that we wasn't asking me something bad. My anxiety was now raging at the thought of meeting his parents, "I would love to..." my voice sounded more scared than I was intending. "Don't worry babe, they're going to love you." He said with a smile, "what if they don't though." I breathed out. "My mom and I are basically the same person and my dad is the coolest person, they will love you I promise." He caressed my hand gently as he spoke. "Okay, when is this happening?" He held his breath, "can you get off work this weekend? Sam and I have to shoot a video and this weekend is our only free weekend for a while." I sighed, "I'll see if someone can cover for me." He smiled a wide smile and pulled into Taco Bell.
As Colby pulled up to order Sam called him, "shit, can you answer it?" He said and handed me his phone, "yeah, hey Sam." I said answering the phone. I heard him laugh on the other end, "Cora??" I laughed, "yeah, Colby's ordering our food, what's up?"
"You guys should come back to the house, we are having game night." Sam said loudly, I could hear people laughing in the background and music being played. "That sounds like fun, I'll talk to Colby when he's done ordering the food. Also I'm probably coming to Kansas with you guys." He laughed on the other end, "heck yeah! You gonna be in the video we are filming?" I shrugged even though he couldn't see me, "if you guys want me to! I'm down for anything." I heard Kat yell playfully at Sam to get off the phone. "That's my que, maybe see you soon!" He said and hung up.
"What did he want?" Colby's said as he took his phone from me, "he wants us to go back to the house, they are having a game night." He shrugged, "did you want to go?" I smiled as he handed me the bag of food, "can we just eat at my place..just the two of us? Then we can go to the house." A smiled bloomed on his face, "that's what I was thinking." He grabbed my hand and pulled out of the drive through, to my apartment.
