Y/N POV
"Hurry up and get dressed already!" My mom was trying to scream over my blaring music, while I was still covered in my soft blanket my dad had given me.

I tried to get up from my bed about ten minutes before, but my legs are still sore.

Something was just different about yesterday though. My legs were sorer than the other two times, but most importantly I couldn't let go of the fact of him risking hisself to save someone he didn't even know.

I didn't remember much of the night except when we fell on our backs to the concrete.

I slid off the bed, changed and got ready for the day that was waiting for me.

**

I grabbed my skateboard and headed out the door.
As I pulled up to school I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Hey"

I turnaround to see the boy I saw yesterday. I nodded my head and went inside. There was nothing we had to talk about and I didn't want to be known as anything to anyone at school, so I decided to shut my mouth. "Wait up, you're (y/n) right?"

"Nope" I fled to my first period class but he still followed me. "Look I just wanna talk about yesterday." I paused.

"Just forget it." I turned around to look back at him and then realized his friends were coming from the side.

"Wait but—" he couldn't even finish his sentence because his "perfect" friends jumped in and started to say their hellos.

Which was my cue to go, I walked off to my class. Did I actually think he would still talk to me or chase me after his friends show up? No. I'm not easy and I don't need a life saver.

**

I was laying on my bed about to knock out when my phone started to ring, lazily I got up to see who it was.

Alvaro.

My best friend since he moved to Florida & the only person I could only rely on. I've been hanging out with him and Roshaun since my dad went upstate for his new job, which left my mom and I here.

Alvaro: "Wassup (y/n)? You doing anything?"

Y/n: "No not really"

Alvaro: "Come overrrrrr"

Y/n: "Alright alright, I'm on my way."

Alvaro: "Awesome, k I'll see you."

Call ended

I wanted to tell Alvaro how I've been lately but I didn't want it to affect our friendship. I didn't want to change our friendship into a pity party.

He's been everything to me and I don't want that to change.

I put a hoodie on and some basketball shorts and headed the way to his house. It took about five minutes so i walked.

**
"Do you know who Jake is?" I was tearing the crust of the pizza apart while I looked at Alvaro.

He looked up at me confused, "Cooper? Yea, why?"

"Oh nothing. Just wanted to know." I looked back down at the deconstructed pizza. I looked back up and he was looking at me weird.

"What Alvaro?" He shook his head and then took a bite of pizza.

"Just be careful, he's different."

I didn't say anything after that. Roshaun hugged me while I was sitting down at the dining room table and looked at Alvaro, "Let her do whatever, I see them together."

"Woah woah woah, you like Jake?" Alvaro's face got real serious as he said that.

"No I never said anything like that, I was just wondering if you knew who he was. Chill Roshaun." I got up from the table and threw away my plate.

"Whatever that's you (y/n). I'll still support you." He came up to me and gave me a hug.

No talk came up the rest of the night about Jake, not like it was needed though.

**

I opened the door to my house and saw my mom passed out on the couch with a bottle of vodka in hand. It had all been hitting her pretty hard after my dad left upstate and she always talked about how she wanted to go up there with him but to stay. They had always been super reliable of each other, so not being together hurts her more each day.

"Mom?" I walked towards her and kneeled down in front of her.

"Hmm?" She wasn't super drunk but I could smell the alcohol from her breath.

"You need to go to your bed." I tried to pull her up by her arm, but she pulled me back down. "Come on Mom."

"I don't want to be here my love, I want to be with your dad. I can't do it anymore I'm going insane." She was crying now and I stood there waiting for her just like I had waited for my dad when he broken down for the first time in my life to tell me that if him and my mom had filed for a divorce he wouldn't be able to live anymore. I envy their love for each other, which makes me feel hopeless that I'll never find someone that will love me that much.

"Mom?" I sat next to her on the couch and rubbed the tears off her face. " If you wanna leave then leave."

She looked up at me surprised of what I had just said. "Honey, than that means you can see your dad too, we will all be happy."

"No mom, just you." I looked at her and she looked at me sadly. " You know I'm a good kid, I don't drink or smoke, I don't throw big ass parties, and most importantly I have good grades. I could call you everyday. Mom I love you so much, but you sitting on this couch rewatching Vampire Diaries while you chug a bottle of vodka is not good and you are not happy."

"I just don't want you to feel like I don't love you."

"Mom I'll always love you & I know you'll always love me. Just know you still have to pay the bills because I don't know how I'll get a job." She started laughing which made me happy.

"Aw I love you so much! I'm so excitedddd!!" She got up from the couch and started dancing around.

"You're wasting time go call dad and go pack!"

"Oh my god you're right!" She started racing up the steps but before she could go all the way up she came back down and hugged me tightly. " I love you so much."

"I love you too mom, now go take a shower you smell like straight up alcohol." She kissed me on the cheek once more and then went and danced back up the stairs.

"You're the best!" She screamed from her room.

I smiled and then realized how it was now going to be without my mom at the house.

I'll miss her but at least I know she'll be happy.
