Ch.10

"Thanks for the company Elijah." We were walking home and it was already 1am, we had stayed there for hours and we still had school in about 7 to 8 hours.

"No problem. I'm not even tired." He smiled at me and then looked up at the sky. "So what happened with your best friends?"

"Oh Roshaun and Alvaro? Well Roshaun and I are cool. He just likes going to play basketball during lunch since Alvaro doesn't really care about us anymore. Now Alvaro is always with his new girlfriend, but he's changed. I can tell."

"Oh, well sorry about that."

"It's alright I don't really care that much, I'm making new friends again and getting back the old ones." I nudged him a little and he laughed. The thing is with Elijah, we knew each other so well to know when one of us wasn't okay. He started to change after my brother died. He blames himself for what happened to my brother. He knew his brother was an asshole. He was the one kid I used to take baths with and now it's crazy how we feel like we can't speak to each anymore. He was my best friend and some would tell me he was my soulmate, but I just thought of him as the kid I had my first kiss with and the one who made a horrible overly sweet cake for my eleventh birthday. He was my best friend and I missed him. "So are we going to go back to ignoring each other again?" I looked at him and focused on all his features. He had the same gleam in his eyes from when we were little. His hair was floppy like all other boys hairstyles now and he wore that cross earring that I bought him last year because I knew it started to become a thing.

"No. I don't want that anymore, I missed being your best friend. I know I already said sorry, but I-I really am." He stuttered a little at the end. He always had trouble with stuttering until fourth grade when his friends started to make fun of him for it, so he tried his best to change himself.

"It's alright. We've gone through so much together, it doesn't even matter."

We stayed a little quiet for a while.

We eventually made it to my house and I didn't even realize it, "Thanks Elijah."

"No problem, I'll see you in a couple hours."

"Yea" I started to walk towards my door when he grabbed my hand.

"Uh if you want you can just sit with me and the guys at lunch, you'll actually like it. Even though we are a bunch of douche bags." He laughed at the end and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Yea that'd be cool. I'll see you later Bubs." His nickname was Bubs, he wasn't Elijah Lamb the popular guy and jerk everyone thinks he is at school. To me he was Bubs.

"See you." His face went a little red when I said his childhood nickname. "Bye Chubs." I hated when people called me that, but when it came from my best friend it didn't matter that it was a name for when I was chubby as a little kid. At least I had my best friend back.

I was sitting at the library looking at different mangas when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"What's up?" I looked up and saw Elijah.
"Hey." He grabbed the book I was looking at and told me that Dragon Ball Z was way better than any of this.
"Well you're wrong there, Attack on Titan was pretty good." He just laughed and gave me back the book.

He started to looks at them with me when someone was shouting his name, "Elijah! Lamb! Bambi!" Then you could hear the group of guys laughter get closer.

"Isn't Bambi a deer?" I looked up at him and he smiled.
"Only us smart people know that." I laughed a little and saw his friends standing there.

"Well look at that. Elijah "Bambi" Lamb is trying to get inside."

"Bro shut up, we've been best friends since we were little, chill out." Elijah's calm expression had went back to an annoyed one.

"Bambi is a deer by the way." I said it calmly, so they didn't think I was trying to pick a fight.
"What did you say?" That same kid came up close to my face.

"Well I was just saying if you're gonna insult my friend, why don't you do it correctly?"
He looked at me closely and then laughed.

"You're chill, I like you." I smiled at him and shook his hand.

"Cmon come hang out with us after school?" Elijah was practically begging me.

"All of us?" He nodded. That meant Jake and Sebastian In the same place. But as I looked at Elijah looking at me hopeful I couldn't really say no. "Sure why not."

"Yes! Wait guys are we going to do the new member thing?" Elijah put his arm around me and looked at the guys. I noticed Jake and Sebastian both staring at me and I didn't know what to do. 

"Woah woah, who said she was a member?" Jake spoke up from where he was.

"I mean we don't have a girl, might as well. Plus she's probably cooler than all you guys so what's the problem?" They all looked at each other until Jake spoke up.
"Fine."
"Cool now who's house we meeting at?"

"Your idea, your house." Jake seemed pissed off so he walked off.
They all looked at each other confused and then agreed with the idea of meeting at Elijah's house.

"Let's do this!" I smiled up at him and he smiled too. "Okay we gotta go to class now Chubs, let's go."

I skated to Elijah's house after school and saw his mom working in the front lawn.

"Hey Mrs.Lamb."

"Oh my goodness (y/n), you look so much older. You're so beautiful. Wait are you hanging out with Elijah again?"

"Thank you and yes we're friends again." She gave me a hug and then pulled away.
"Thank you so much, he needed someone and I don't really trust his friends."
We both laughed and then I went on inside to see where Elijah was.

"They're downstairs." I turned around and saw Elijah's brother. He facial expression changed when he saw me. "Thanks Logan."

I walked downstairs to the basement and saw some of the guys watching tv and others playing on the Ps4.
"Hey (y/n)." Elijah ran up to me and let me sit where I wanted to.
I was watching them play a game, when Jake spoke up, "Alright are we gonna do this or not?"

"Dude this is gonna turn weird though." Sebastian stood up from where he was and sat down next to me.

"Why would it be weird?"

"Well you see, when we made this group we were in third grade. Third grade equals curiosity. So our little thing to get into the group is you have to kiss everyone in the group." I was in shock.

"Everyone?" I looked at all of them and they all looked kind of embarrassed.

"Just like spin the bottle."

"I think there's a better way of me getting into the group."

"Look if you want in, you have to do it. Imagine how awkward it was for us when we did it to each other." Elijah said.

"Ugh.fine. What do I have to do specifically?"

"We'll go upstairs and one of us will stay down here with you, then when that person comes back upstairs another one goes. It's only four of us. Caleb lives in Hawaii now."

"Okay well who's going first?" I looked at them and then all you saw was Sebastian and Jake raise their hands at the same time.

Everyone was just looking at them and waiting for them to come up with a conclusion.
"Fine I'll go second then." Sebastian looked back at Jake and then started to walk upstairs.

That meant Jake was first.
