"D-dad what did you do..?" Finn looked up at his tall father, noticing all of the redness in his eyes, and the drunkenness that was extremely noticeable. "don't call me that." He thrusted his boot-covered foot against Finn's skinny legs that he held close to his chest. Finn's head hit the ground as he fell over from his sitting position. Eric smirks and watched Finn just lay there, unresponsive. "You are a disappointment." He kicked him again. "Just like your mother."
At this point Finn just let it happen, he might as well just let other people hurt him before he just hurts himself, until eventually he pushes himself over the edge. "You're useless Finn. Nobody loves you." Eric laughs, and Finn feels those words like a stab to the heart. His eyes started to tear up as he just took in the words that his father forced him to believe. Right when he was about to sit up because he thought it was done, he was wrong, and his face got bashed into the ground with a quick sudden movement of his father's boot. "Don't fight it Finn. Just accept it." Eric laughed, watching his son's eyebrows scrunch up together from pain. It felt like his head was going to explode any second.
Tears streamed down his face and his father just kept pushing. Finn tried to prevent himself from letting out a giant sob, because he knew that his dad will just hurt him more. "Might as well kill yourself." Finn's eyes opened wide, looking up at his father, but not saying anything. Eric gave a look of disgust directed towards his son, before leaving the room. Finn sat up, not crying anymore. But just analyzing the room for something.
He didn't want to bleed to death, that was slow and he could get saved. So he went downstairs, not even acknowledging his mom that lied on the ground unconscious. He went straight to their garage and found a rope, that he knew would hold him up. He ran back upstairs, hoping his father didn't notice him. Which he was just gulping down a bottle of vodka. When Finn made it back into his room, he tied the rope up into a noose, tying it to his ceiling fan. Before he ended it, he went to his night stand and ripped out a piece of paper from his old school notebook, grabbing a black ball point pen as well.
He sat on the ground, using his notebook as a hard surface and began to write.
"Dear Millie,
Hey.. you know what happened. I mean, obviously if you're reading this. You might be confused at the timing, especially since we just were talking about my well-being. But i want you to understand that when i shut you out, it was because i didnt want to talk about me anymore. It wasn't because you did anything wrong, in fact, you were doing everything right. and you're caring. you really are. you are the only person who cared. and i dont want you to be upset. I want you to be happy that i was staying with you for as long as i could. but i couldnt handle it anymore. especially since my own father told me to kill myself.. that was my breaking point. that was when i knew i wasnt going to hold on anymore. That's when I knew that I had to make a decision. and I did. I know this is selfish, but at this point im already selfish enough, so what is a little more selfishness going to change? I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for leaving you, but I know you'll be able to get through it. You are strong, and I am not. That's why I did this. Because I couldn't handle it anymore. i wanted to let you know why i did this. none of this was your fault. you were the only thing keeping me going. you were the only thing that made happiness still bubble inside of me. you were the only thing that made me feel some sort of way. and yes im basically confessing in this note. i know it was kind of obvious, but i love you. i have loved you since we first met. you were my first crush Millie. and you will be my last. please dont stay mad at me, and understand why i did this. i love you. -Finn "Finn wrote that down with tears soaking up the lined paper. He read over the note, again and again about three times. He made sure it was good enough, and it was. He loved Millie, he did. But he hated his parents more than anything and he couldn't keep himself going. He took the note and some left over electrical tape he found in the garage and taped it to the front of his window, but making sure it stuck enough for it not to fly away. He closed his curtains before he stood on his bed, wrapping the rope around his neck..

It was the next morning, and Millie was still stressing about Finn, was he mad at her? She was pacing around her room frantically, hoping that everything was okay. That Finn didn't have to overhear the horrible screams and fights from his parents. That he didn't have to be hurt, by his parents. Her eyes began to water and she finally listened to herself, opening her beige curtain and slowly opening the window, not seeing anything but white and red lights, reflecting on the tan building, with the bold tape standing out keeping a note still.
Millie stood still. Staring straight at the window. She had to know what it said. Their houses were only a little far apart, and their windows were easily in contact. She ran downstairs to grab a pair of kitchen tongs, and then back up to her room to retrieve the piece of paper that stuck to the window.
She reached out of her window, using one of her hands to keep herself from falling, and using the other to use the tongs. After about two minutes of struggling she finally had it. She went back inside of her room, trying to ignore the sounds and lights of the ambulance. She was scared. In fact. She was already bursting into tears at the first few words. She knew exactly what this was. She knew exactly what this meant. However, she read it anyway. Before reading more than a sentence she tried looking in his room, but she only saw her lonely reflection, because of his curtains that were blocking his way.
She could remember his face, smiling and blushing as she hoped he felt the same way as she did. She could remember his amazing compliments that lit up her eyes. She could just remember him. His presence alone made everything in the world disappear. He was everything to her, and she realized that she was his too as she read along. She was smiling, but that smile went away as she realized Finn wasn't there. He would never be there again. He is gone. He is gone. We're the thoughts repeating in her brain. All she wanted to do was be there for him, hell.. she could've stopped him.
Her whole body was shaking because the realization of the whole situation hit her, as the familiar feeling of the salty warm substance fell down her cheeks and filled up her eyes so quickly. She let out a scream. "FUCK!" She sat on the ground with her head against the wall, her arms resting on her legs that were pulled tight to her chest. "What am I supposed to do now...?"
