Chapter 3

Avoiding & dancing

It's Monday afternoon and everyone are doing last minute arrangements. Me on the other hand couldn't concentrate. I was so nrevous. What if the judges hate the dance?  What if we get eliminated?

Ugh! That's not the worst part. Artem has been avoiding me. I think somebody said something but screw him, he said he'll always be here. Where the hell are you right now?

Doing the dance with Val one last time. He kissed me on the forehead, and I was sent to hair and makeup. Sitting besides Leah, she was telling me one of her great stories.

"How are you feeling tonight, Janel?" She asked.

"So nervous, Just hoping we do go enough to stay.."

"You'll do great." She patted my shoulder reassuringly then left.

Again, being left alone. It was me and the lady now going my hair. Once she was finished, I walked out making my way to my trailer.

Im the distance, I noticed Artem and Derek talking. Derek looked up and noticed me. He said something to Artem and Artem turned to look at me.

Watching them confused, I shook my head and made my way inside, grabbing the outfit for tonight and my shoes. Don't cry, Janel. Your wearing to much makeup for that.

Right when I was about to change, somebody knocked on the door, opening the door, there stood Artem.

"Can I speak to you?"

"Why? So you could go ahead and ignore me for the rest if this week?" I wanted that to come out strong but couldn't.

"Janel, I can explain why.."

"Fine.. You have 5 minutes." Opening the door wider to let him, I sat down on the small sofa.

"Derek told me something the day we were on GMA.." He sighed. "On the plane he heard something, I guess you didn't hear. We've all been together for weeks now and.."

Standing up, I  looked at him confused.

"Don't worry about it Janel, just know I wish you the best of luck and I'll see you after the show."

With that, he left. Getting dresses, I couldn't think about anything but that fact that he was acting weird.

When finished getting dressed, Me and Leah made our way into the dwts main building.

Making my way toward Val, he smiled at me. I smiled back at him with everything inside of me.

Once the show started, I watched the female and male pros do the opening number, it was really beautiful. .

The first couple to go up where, Cheryl Burke and Antonio sabato jr.  Their dance was amazing to me.

Then next was Leah and Artem, Me and Val watched their dance from a tv screen while we were getting last minute touches.

Once they were finished, Val and I made our way to the side of the stage. There I noticed one of my friends Brant.

Waving back at him, I laughed.

Once they cut back from commercial, they showed our rehearsal package and then we started our jive to Bang Bang.

When we were on our ending move, I smiled brightly at Val, and kissed him on the cheek. (his lips accidently touched my boob area but.. He played it off.)

Walking to the judges, they mostly talked about my footwork but after that they loved me dance!

Getting to the skybox with Erin, I got nervous because that meant scores..

Carrie Ann: 7

Len Goodman: 7

Julianne Hough: 7

Bruno Tonioli: 8

Nodding at the scores, Val and I made our way backstage.

"You okay?" Val asked while grabbing a water bottle.

"Yeah.. I just thought we'd get better scores.."

He shook his head looking at me. "We need to come back stronger, prove them wrong."

"Okay.." Smiling at me, he kissed my cheek.

Walking away, I bumped into Artem.

"Hey, you and Leah did amazing tonight.."

"You and Val were great too.."

"Look Artem, why are things so awkward between us?"

"I don't know.. Let's go out to eat.." He tried, smiling.

Giving into him, I smiled and nodded. "Yeah.. Okay." playing with my hair, I looked at him. "Your driving because Val had picked me up."

After speaking with Artem, I started making my way back to my trailer to change.

Looking towards my trailer, I noticed somebody standing there. I kept walking until noticing it was Payson.

"Payson, what the hell are you doing out here?" I sighed.

"Janel, Just give me a chance. I was so wrong about how we ended it.." He stepped closer to me.

"If you get any closer, I will scream out rape."

"Okay, just let me explain.."

"I don't want an explanation."

"Janel.. ple-"

"She said she didn't want an explanation from you!" Said a deep voice from behind me.

Turning around. I noticee Val standing there with his arms crossed. I started between the both of them. Oh if you only felt the awkwardness.

Once I changed back into my maxi dress. I grabbed my bag and phone, walking out the trailer where Val was standing.

"I'll take you home now.." He said to me.

"Actually, me and Artem are going out to dinner.."

Val nodded and squeezed my arm softly. "okay. I'll call you later.. Or you call me. "

Watching him walk away, I could tell he didn't approve of it, but that wasn't my fault, we're just friends..
