That negative sign literally broke my heart, I threw the test in the trash and pushed the box into my cabinet. Maybe I did want the baby and now..
I walked out the bathroom and changed into my stitch onesie. Val was calling my name from downstairs. When I got there, Maks was eating my potato chips.
"Hey, I bought those for me." I grabbed the bag and sat down beside him. "How are you, sunshine?" Maks smiled.
"I'm just exhausted." I sighed, placing my foot on his lap. "I just want to sleep for a month."
"Well, I have something to tell you."
Maks looked over at Val then back at me with a smiled that almost broke his face.
"Are you going to tell me already?" I smiled, sitting up a little.
"Meryl, she's having a baby."
My heart was just shattering piece by piece but I put on my happy face and gave him a great bear hug.
"I'm so happy for you two.." I honestly was.
"Thank you, I'm just too happy but I actually really need to get home before she makes me sleep on the couch."
After we said goodbye to Maks, I sat down beside Val just watching girl code. From the corner of my eye - I could see Val watching me closely. Meryl was having a baby - this was something to be happy about but it just made me sadder then before.
"What's wrong?" Val slid closer to me, wrapping his arm around my waist.
"Nothing, just thinking a little bit."
"Just remember, I'm here and you can tell me anything."
"Yeah, I know." I plastered a fake smile on my face.
Everything, except this of course..
