Chapter 26

This is a bad idea, such a bad idea.

Derek texted me he wanted to meet for lunch.

We've been dating for a month now and guess what.

Val is joining us for this lunch date.

God, just stab me right now.

I tapped on my phone, Samantha was trying to calm me down but it wasn't working. My legs were shaking at I was a minute away from a nervous breakdown.

"Babe.. Are you okay." Derek grabbed my hand.

Nodding, I took a deep breath and sent him a bright smile. I looked up and noticed Val walk in.

He noticed us and started walking towards us, he gave Derek one of those bro hugs then gave me a tight hug.

"I barely see you anymore." Derek smiled when were seated again.

"Just really busy with everything. At the same time just trying to relax and change a little."

I looked up to meet his eyes then looked away, trying to fix my gaze on something else.

"J, are you okay?" Derek looked at me.

"Yeah, of course just exhausted!"

The boys kept talking, I say there just listening to the conversations. My eyes would always shifted back to val.

"Hey, look I need to run." Derek looked down at his phone. "Val let's reschedule." He got up.

"No problem man." Val smiled. "Anytime."

"I'll see you later J.." Derek kissed my forehead before rushing out.

I watched him leave them finally looked over at Val who was already watching me.

"Well, you have a great afternoon." I grabbed my bag.

"Janel, please." He whispered.

The look on his face made me sit back down and sigh crossing my arm.

"Why are you ignoring me? Every time I call or text even emailing." He questioned.

"I'm really busy."

"Yeah, I can tell but please just listen to really quick! I really am in love with you-"

"Val, please just -"

"Janel, just stop talking for a minute!" He said, sighing softly. "Everyday without you is hell. I miss hugging you, kissing you just hearing your giggle drives me insane. I miss the way you tease me or the way you say my name. I've changed, I swear I'd never break your heart like I did. You're the only woman for me and if you don't believe me I'll tell the entire world."

His face was the most sincere, I've never seen him like this which made me break on the inside.

"I want to say something -- I have to think about it first Valentin, I'm sorry." I stood up, looking back at him.

When I got home, I noticed a car in my driveway. Goddamn, Derek. I walked up to him with a confusing look.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I'm keeping you from true love.." He grabbed my hand.

"What do you mean?"

"When I left earlier,I came back to tell you something but then I saw you and Val talking -- the way you guys looked at each other I knew that you two were the couple on season 19.." He smiled.

"I wasn't using you, I swear!"

"No, I believe you it's just I knew I could never keep up with you and Val could. All I want is for you to be happy." He smiled.

"Derek, you're the sweetest guy ever." I stepped closer to him. "You deserve the world and I hope you can find the lady that can give you that but I'm not her."

He smiled then leaned forward placing a kiss on my lips -- kissing him back, I smiled pulling back.

"Can you do something for me?" I questioned.

"Anything.."

"For now, to Val we are still dating."

"Want to see to what lengths he'll go for you?" Derek chuckled.

"Hey, and you said you couldn't keep up with me!" I pushed his shoulder playfully.

For the rest of the night we talked about everything that happened between Val and I until he left.

As I brushed my teeth before going to bed, my phone buzzed. A text for Val.

I smiled then placed my phone down just looking into the mirror. After brushing my teeth -- I climbed into my bed with Kleo and turned on my tv.

Around midnight I got another text that made feel all special in the inside.

My heart was telling me to go to him right now but my mind said to wait and see what happens..

THE NEXT MORNING:

I woke up to two text messages from Val.

I smiled, looking over at sleeping Kleo maybe this will be a lot of fun..
