After arriving at the ball, I find myself getting whisked away to dance with people I've never met. Everyone here is dressed elegantly, and light on their feet when they dance. It's quite amazing, if I do say so myself. Queen Oxy sure has outdone herself with this ball, as she always does. I'm just thankful to have been invited to such an event.

But as I walk around, I find my cousin, Cori-Anne Fiske, on the ground, soaking wet. For a moment, I just take in what's happening before I say anything to her.

"Cori?" I finally say.

She turns and smiles at me. "Hey, cuz'. Nothing's happening here!"

I raise an eyebrow at her suspiciously before helping her to her feet. "Right. Come back inside. They brought in a giant cake."

"Real food?!" she asks, excitedly. We walk back towards the ballroom. "Great! I'm starving."

"Cori..." I begin, realizing that she's still wet.

"Yeah?"

"You're soaking wet."

She gets a realizing look on her face, snaps her fingers, and her dress dries. Those are the perks of being from Fayí; you've got magic. Then we link arms, and walk back towards the doors. We walk towards the cake, talking and laughing with each other.

But something happens, and it all happens in a blur, but before I know it Cori-Anne is already leaving the ball for a reason unknown to me. She leaves quickly before I can say anything else to her, so I return to the dance floor. I talk with several people from various different countries. Some of them are kind, and some of them seem hostile.

I finally take a break from dancing as the music ends for a few minutes. I reflect on what I'm wearing-a knee-length green dress. My mother said it matches my eyes. My hair has been pulled back so only a few strands fall loose. And finally, around my neck is the necklace my mother gave me when I was young. I've never been one to particularly wear dresses every second of every day, but I've never been opposed to it.

I lean against the wall and watch as several people begin dancing again as another song plays. Even Queen Oxy, looking as stunning as ever, steps out onto the dance floor with someone.

The whole ballroom is lit up with several shining lights. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling, beautiful paintings line the walls, and magnificent music fills the palace. It's amazing.

Out of the corner of my eye, though, I notice someone walking into the room. It's my best friend, Aria Isabella Alonsae. I smile and make my way over to her. She hasn't noticed me yet by the time I tap her shoulder, but she turns quickly.

"Aria!" I say, excitedly. Giving her a quick hug, I look at what she's wearing. "Aria, you look beautiful!" She's wearing a stunning purple dress that surprisingly almost matches her eye color perfectly. The bodice of the dress has purple ribbons, and embroidery around the edges of it. It's unusual to see Aria in a dress, so I know her mother must have made her wear it, but she looks incredible.

"So do you," Aria replies, studying my outfit for a second. "How long have you been here?"

"Just a couple of minutes," I say. It's true-I've only been here for a short time, but I've already danced with people. Surprisingly, there are a lot of people from Ashburg here. I loop my arm through Aria's. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" I ask her, meaning the ballroom.

"Beautiful doesn't cut it," she says, looking around with wide eyes. "This is like a fairytale."

"And do you know what people do in fairytales?" I ask her, with another smile forming on my lips.
