The twinkling lights of the chandelier streamed in beautiful rays, illuminating the ballroom in the most intimate of ways. The room was pristine, accentuated with expensive decor. Couples gently swayed to the music while lone souls sat at tables, trying to appear as if they were occupied. I smoothed down my immaculate burgundy ball gown, my hands lingering over the plush fabric. My usually wild, bouncy curls were tamer, cascading down my back in soft waves. The whole look was complimented with gold accessories and a bold, red lip.

As another possible suitor approaches me and asks me to dance, I turn him down politely, citing that I had two left feet. This was a complete and utter lie as I had been training in many styles of dance since the age of two. Ballroom, both Standard and Latin, were a part of my forte but I had no interest in courting with anyone just yet, I was too timid to even think of doing so.

We spent a good portion of the night debating the politics in our respective countries as well as getting to know each other better. By the time of the Queen's address I had eaten twice my body weight and had socialized with people who I would have never had the guts to speak to before.

I don't know what came over me tonight but I liked it. It was as if attending one little Ball transformed me into an entirely different person. My siblings often discredited whether or not I would be a good ruler because of my inability to engage in normal human interaction. However, maybe with this new found confidence, I could stand a chance against my fellow Lords and Ladies. As I exited the grand castle upon the conclusion of the Ball, I had high hopes. Becoming Queen no longer felt like a distant dream for me. It was now a possible reality...
