The Witch Defense Bureau has just recieved this letter from Lady Shayne of Fayi:

Your Highness,

I must beg of you to listen. A lady of the court, I know not who, has claimed me a witch in your eyes, and I have written this letter to you to defend myself in your royal eyes.

It is true, in Fayí, that I have an easy access to magic and magical items, so, should I choose the darker path of life, I could indeed be a witch. I must however claim that I am not. The only magical item I have brought with me is my hair, which is in fact only a product of magic-- a mishap from when I was a young girl first learning the art of spells. I assure you, there was no malicious intent, I simply had tried to bleach a small teddy bear my father had spilled wine on. As a very young girl, I had mispronounced a word, and the whitening was redirected towards my head.

At the ball I was quiet. Too quiet, I do not know, that would depend on the average ladies thoughts to feminine outspokenness. I was simply observing my competition to the throne, as these are the people I will be competing against. The first rule in magic-- observe. While I was not going to use magic on my fellow peers, I believe this is always a good rule to use in our daily lives.

This is the defense I have presented. If you would command it, I would vow to never use my magic inside the castle.

I pray you take this into consideration and see through the falsities I've been accused of.

Your loyal subject,

Lady Shayne Brightwell
