Chapter 1

"What are you doing here, Ralph? I already told you that I'm studying! I'm busy! I have exams tomorrow!" Hindi ko sinasadyang napataas ang boses ko.

"I just want to see you and it's our anniversary today so I want to give you gifts." Natigilan ako sa narinig ko.

It's our anniversary.

How can I forget about it? I've been studying nonstop that I forgot that it's our anniversary today. Damn it. I have an exam tomorrow at hindi biro ang pagpasok sa law school. Kailangan kong bumawi dahil hindi maganda ang recit ko noong huli. I need to spend most of my time studying. This is an endless reading of cases and such.

"Happy Anniversary, Ja! I have five gifts for you. First, listen to the song I made for you." Ani Ralph at kinuha ang kaniyang gitara. I felt guilty. First, I forgot that it's our anniversary today. Second, nataasan ko pa siya ng boses dahil stress na stress na talaga ako. And lastly, I don't have a gift for him.

"Can you please stop reading for a while and listen to the song I made for you?" He asked while smiling. I sighed. Nakalimutan ko na ngang anniversary namin ngayon so I should atleast spend some time with him. Naka-review naman na ako, inuulit ko na lang para hindi ko makalimutan.

"Okay." Sabi ko at binaba ang librong hawak ko. Tumayo naman ako at lumapit sa kaniya.

Nagsimula na siyang tumugtog at kumanta. I stared at him while he's singing. Sobrang ganda ng boses niya that anyone who listens to it will surely fall in love. He told me that he was a member of a band when he was in high school. I'm sure that he was so famous back then. I smiled. His voice makes me calm and relax. Kahit saglit lang, nawala lahat ng pagod at stress ko.

"Sorry kanina. I was just stressed and tired. I hope you understand." I said when he finished singing.

"It's okay, Ja. I understand how stressful law school is." He said so I smiled at him and I gave him a hug. Tumayo siya kaya tinignan ko siya.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"I'll just get my other gifts." He answered and he went out my room.

Pagbalik niya ay may dala siyang tatlong paper bag at bulaklak. How sweet. Napangiti ako lalo.

"Here. Gift number two." He said and gave a paper bag. I opened it. It was a dress. 'Yung dress na gusto kong bilhin last week.

"Thank you." I said.

"Gift number three." Inabot niya sa akin ang isa pang paper bag. It was a pair of shoes.

"Thank you."

"Gift number four." He gave me the last paper bag. Ang laman ay maraming highlighters, sticky notes, and pens.

"And the last one. Here. For you, baby." Inabot niya sa aking ang bulaklak. Tumayo ako at niyakap siya nang mahigpit kaya natawa siya.

"I'm sorry. This is my only gift to you..." I said and I tiptoed to kiss him. He smiled when he stopped.

"Happy 5th anniversary!" Sabi ko at niyakap ulit siya.

"You're the best gift I've received." I can't help but to smile even more. He surely knows how to make me feel better and happy. I'm so thankful for that.

"I love you." He whispered and he kissed me again.

We spent the rest of the day together. At nang gabi na ay nag-volunteer siyang magluto ng dinner namin.

"Ako na ang magluluto. Just study there." He said and he went to our kitchen. Iniwan niya ako sa sala. But instead of studying, I followed him in the kitchen.
