Ace sat next to me on the couch with a fruit in hand. I watched him intently as he grabbed the base of his mask. OH MY GOSH!!! Are you going to revile your face?! I thought and continued to watch him, but all of the suspense died as he just tilted it a little and took a bit of the fruit.

"Dang it I wanted to see your face!" I yelled scaring Ace as I folded my arms and pouted like a five year old. he busted up laughing and fell backwards into the couch as he laughed.

his laughter died down as he grabbed the book about his species and flipped a few pages and pointed to a sentence.

Lignum males will only remove their masks once they have found their life long companion. He chuckled a little and fell silent as he ate the rest of his fruit.

"how did you find your mask?" I asked and watched as Ace readjusted his mask back down.

"when I was born I was given the mask. it just kinda grows along with me, but since I'm done growing it has stopped as well." I sat there confused as he opened a book and began reading. how in the crap?... you know what I'm not going to question it. I thought and looked at Ace.

I went to ask him another question, but before I could he shut the book and quickly got to his feet.

"I know how to fine them!" Ace said grabbing his cloak and flung it over his shoulders in one swift movement. he ran out the door as I quickly grabbed my jacket and followed him.

we walked down the street of the village until we came to a small house that looked old and run down. there is no way anybody is living here?! I thought and questionably continued to stair at the house that looked like it was going to fall over if you blew on it.

I glanced at Ace who began waling up to the house.

we walked up to the door and knocked on the door. I heard a few crashes and something break as footsteps came closer to the door. a short lizard opened the door. he had short legs and arms, but a lang tail that dragged on the ground behind him as he walked.

"Ace!" said the lizard excitedly after he adjusted his glasses.

"come in! come in!" the short lizard beaconed to us and we followed him into the house.

"sorry it's a mess. I was in the middle of an experiment." the lizard said stepping over a pile of papers that cluttered the ground. there were glass containers that had plants and animals in them.

we followed the lizard as he guided us to a living room and told us to sit. we looked around, but found no chairs. is this dude delusional or something? I thought and continued to stand next to Ace.

the house was on the short side so Ace had to lean over a little so he didn't hit the ceiling. the lizard went into another room. I looked up at Ace and almost chuckled at his position.

"I'm debating if I should sit on the floor because my back is killing me." he said making me giggle. he ended up sitting on the floor, but he was only an inch shorter than me.

"you look so short now." I said looking at him with a giggle.

"now I know how you feel." he said and chuckled a little. I gasped dramatically and held my hand over my mouth.

"I'm offended!" I said sarcastically crossing my arms. he chuckled a little more, but all our jokes died when the lizard came back into the room and smiled warmly at us.

"sorry for the wait. how may I help you my old friend?" he said and clasped his hands together eagerly.

"Ali, this is my old friend Vedger." Ace introduced Vedger to me and I smiled warmly to Vedger. he looked at Ace then at me then slowly looked back at Ace with a smug look on his face.

"may I talk with you Ace in the other room alone?" Vedger walked into the other room causing Ace to get up from his spot, but he forgot to lean over and hit his head in the ceiling.

he hissed and rubbed the top of his head and walked into the other room.

Ace's POV

the top of my head stung as I followed Vedger. I walked into the room where Vedger was leaning against a wall and had a smug look on his face.

"so help me, Vedger if you try and take samples of me again I'm going-" I was cutoff by his expression growing in intensity making me feel uncomfortable.

"I see you've been.... busy." he said which made my face grow warm.

"what are you talking about?" I asked and he nudged me in the arm.

"you know what I mean." I looked at the ground and sighed.

"no! I have not been doing that!" I said and ran my hand through my feathers.

"hey, I'm not judging! I did it with my wife before I married her." my face grew warmer as I tried to keep my composure.

"I'm going to kill you! I haven't been doing that!" I whispered yelled at him and walked back into the living room where Ali was patiently waiting.

"ok sure buddy." I heard Vedger say and chuckle as he followed me.
