it was a thursday evening as the eight of them met up at jeno's house to study for the upcoming tests that will be given the next few weeks.
"can we take a break? we've been staring at dead trees for two whole hours straight." jisung groaned and fell back on jeno's white carpet, closing his eyes.
"yeah, a break sounds good," haeyoung nodded her head, pushing aside the papers and pens cluttered around the floor.
"so... how did the both of you meet jeno, jaemin, renjun and haechan? i don't think mark and i introduced them to you guys," haeyoung started, targeting the question to chenle and jisung.
"while jisung and i were making our way out of school, we noticed mark talking to the four new students. jisung and i walked up to them and mark told us that he was going over to your place and that was what jisung and i planned to do as well. we walked together and got to know each other along the way!" chenle beamed as he reminisced that day where they became friends.
"not to mention, the four of them were really popular in my level. everywhere i went, i heard murmurings about them. it was frustrating, honestly." chenle added.
"wow, i didn't know we were this famous to be the talk of the whole school," renjun let out a laugh.
"what about you? how did you become friends with them?" haechan asked haeyoung and pointed to chenle, jisung and mark.
"mark is my seat mate. the teachers always put us together for some reason. and as for jisung, he fell off his bike at a park so i went to help him, chenle coming in to help not long after. i bought them ice cream and whenever they spotted me in school, they'd acknowledge me as 'the ice cream girl'. i didn't know that they were from our school that time," haeyoung shrugged.
"then why did the four of you transfer?" mark looked at the four "new" students in anticipation.
they all knew each other well, but they weren't clear about the reasons for their transfer.
"i had to transfer because of my parents work," jaemin replied simply.
"i was schooling in china but my family decided to move to korea for reasons that my parents never told me. when i first got here, i got into a really bad school because i didn't have time to search for good schools around my area but in the end, i found one and transferred here." renjun grinned.
"i moved house and my parents wanted me to stay closer to the school, so i transferred." jeno explained.
"eyy no wonder your house looks so new." jaemin hit his shoulder playfully.
"what about you, haechan?"
"i was expelled."
pure shock and terror was displayed on the seven others faces, not believing what he just said.
"wait! before you misunderstand, i didn't do anything bad," he noticed his friends' distraught faces and decided to clear things up before they get the wrong idea, which they most likely already did.
"care to... enlighten us?" mark asked hesitantly.
"i was misunderstood and framed. one day i got called into the principals office, and the principal straight up told me that i stole from someone. of course, i was in shock. i never stole and never would. then, i saw one of my classmates who had higher power than me because he had money. he was the one who framed me. how would i know? he hated my guts for no reason. he just likes to hold a grudge against me. i defended myself because i know for a fact that i didn't do anything wrong but it didn't make any difference because my classmate purposely put his lighter in my bag while i wasn't looking and accused me of stealing. the principal found the lighter in my bag and i got expelled. he was probably bribed to expel me because usually students would only get suspended, but whatever. at least i got out from that hellhole and that inhumane piece of shit." haechan huffed.
