Chapter 8: See You Later

I woke up to absolute bliss. Light shined through my window and I had an incredible slumber. I remembered Trunks was going to do some extra training today with Gohan and Cheri so I wasn't in a rush to get out of bed.

My stomach furiously rumbled and begged for something to fill it. Now I have a reason to get out of bed.

I was given the burden of answering the phone as it rang behind me.

"Hello?"

"Oh hey Hope. I didn't know you'd answer. Anyways the message is for you. I don't know if you and I will have time to study and train today."

"Huh? Why is that?"

Weird. We've been on a streak when it came to studying and training.

"Gohan and Cheri said we have to train a little longer. I really hope they're not onto us."

"Oh. I understand..."

But something else was on my mind and bothering me."

"I'm sorry, Hope. It's there a problem with that?" Trunks in the other like grew concerned.

"It's alright but I really have to know..."

"Come tell me."

"... Is it hard to train me, Trunks?"

"Huh? I never thought so. Why do you ask?"

"I just don't want to be a heavy burden on you."

He became silent for a brief moment. I heard him sigh on the other side of line. "Are you listening to me, Hope?"

I nodded but realized he couldn't see me. "I'm listening."

Trunks' voice became serious. "Don't ever think that your burden to me, Hope. I love training with you, and it's really helping me out too if you haven't noticed. See you soon."

Hearing those words coming from you meant everything. Thank you.

"Alright. See you soon, Trunks."

I care about you.

The relief I felt knowing Trunks wasn't bothered by me great. Really the truth was that a while ago, Cheri and Gohan had difficulty training me, and I had difficulty understanding them.

For years I had to train myself. Note training with Trunks was my big break.

By the time I got downstairs Cheri was putting on her shoes. Her once luscious long locks we're cropped down to her head just a while ago. I yawned and said, "Leaving so soon?" She seemed a bit bewildered.

"It's 1 p.m., Hope." My eyes widened and I heard her laugh. Gee, I really overslept.

"Its quite beautiful outside, it'll rain later. I love the rain."

She took a deep breath. "I'm not leaving right away, I've got time." The saiyan-tuffle put her hands behind her head and put her feet on the coffee table.

I gave her a look. "Amai won't be too fond of that."

"That's why Amai won't find out."

"I won't find out what?" Amai questioned and in an instant, Charity's feet were back on the rug quick, bit not without the cost of knocking over something. With that saiyan swiftness, the vase she knocked over was back up before Amai even walked in.

"Oh nothing." Cheri said a bit too innocently.

She walked out of the room into the greenhouse. "So," my sister began, "I heard about yesterday..." She drifted off.

"Please don't." I pleaded. She groaned and said alright. Looks like Bulma told someone about how Trunks and I arrived to Capsule Corporation two hours later than usual. There was silence.

"I now you both are training." Cheri suddenly said, her tone solemn. My heart skipped a beat, I froze, then turned looking her way. But then, I saw the corners of her mouth go up.

"Why so serious? Gohan and I are alright with it." She playfully said. I finally exhaled.

"Don't Please. Please don't do that." I slightly laughed. "I thought I was going to get yelled at."

My heart beat slowed back down. She laughed hysterically. I tried to stay serious but her contagious laugh got to me.

"I'm serious! Cheri!" I guffawed. We eventually calmed down. She wiped away a tear from her eye with a finger. I spoke up.

"How long have you known?"

"How long have you guys been training?

"Almost a month."

"About that long."

They've known that long? Trunks and I have got to work on our secret keeping.

I stuttered, "But-But why didn't you say anything until now?"

She sharply inhaled and exhaled. "Well, it was getting difficult to train you. Gohan and I didn't seem to be able to help you or make anything easier. We thought fighting wasn't your forte.

But there were those times you trained with Trunks. You just seemed to do better with him instructing you. You for some reason do well with someone closer to your age.

When you guys were training everyday throughout the month, we decided you guys could keep your secret training going. Trunks has even been showing improvement with you too. I guess teaching you is a bit of a review for him."

Wow. Trunks is actually doing better with me too. I thought all I'd been doing was holding him back.

"I guess I never realized." I responded. The short-haired women put her hands on her knees and pushed herself up.

"I've got to get going now. If Gohan, Trunks and I start early, maybe there will be enough time for you and Trunks to train again."

I still wanted to ask her something. "Wait!" She turned around. "What is it, Hope?"

"What color are your hair and eyes?" I sheepishly asked. Cheri cleared her throat.

"I have sapphire blue eyes as our mother would say." She grabbed a lock of her hair. "Hmm, I have red-gold hair. I guess you could say I have pumpkin-colored hair. Why?"

"I've been wanting to know. Trunks and I have been talking about it a lot yesterday."

A thoughtful look appeared on her face. "Mother. She had violet eyes and raven black hair like yours. Just incase you wanted to know." She added. I thanked her.

"See you later, Hope. I love you.

"Yeah, see you. I love you too." She planted a kiss on my forehead. She hesitated moving away after. She looked like she had something else to say but didn't know how to say it.

"Um, Hope." I nodded. "Whatever happens, just know, that things will be okay." She sincerely smiled.

What ever happens? I just nodded and agreed. "Yes, everything will be okay."
