Chapter 19: A New Chapter
Bulma was stretching when we came in. "Ah, you ready son?"
Trunks smiled at his mother. "Yeah. We're ready." Our arms were linked.
Her eyes widened. "Both? You're both going? That's great!" Bulma beamed.
This was it. We're going to the past.
For some reason I felt myself tear up a bit. "Hope. What's wrong? Are you alright?" Trunks walked over and rested a hand on my shoulder from behind.
I nodded and without turning his way, lifted my hand to touch his hand on my shoulder. "Anxious?" I nodded again.
"Yeah, just a bit. Trunks, I'm just afraid of doing something wrong. I'm afraid messing up something."
"You don't have to worry so much. I know you have common sense. Were facing this new chapter in our lives together." He assured me and took his hand off my shoulder. I reached up and gripped the crescent pendant around my neck.
I remembered how the androids left Zen's leg. The deep sorrow I felt from the loss of my childhood friends and peers.
I remembered the pain I felt when Cheri, Gohan, and Seisan were taken from me. The pity I felt seeing people in misery in those shelters. The fear anger overcoming me when I thought I lost Trunks, my life long best friend.
Nobody should have to feel these emotions. Nobody should have to remember this pain. I glanced over and saw my little nephew, Valor. Nobody should have to grow up in this horrid world in fear every waking second, especially not him.
My eyes began to water up a bit but I blinked the years away. "We're going to change things, Trunks. When we come back we'll make sure that people live in harmony and peace."
Before Trunks could respond, Bulma came up and embraced us.
"I'm so, so proud of you two. You both have surely grown into quite the man and woman. I'm glad I have you two in my life. Now, it's about time you guys get going. I'll be right back."
I glanced over to Trunks and find his light eyes starting back at me, warm with a sense of delight. Some kind of charm. I felt somewhat safer with him.
"Why are you smiling?" He agreed, smiling himself.
"You just make me happy." I loved the way he looked at me with great interest.
"You've always made me happy. We've anyways been best friends." Oh no, now I'm blushing.
"I'm back you guys!" Bulma waved at us, my box of capsules in her hand. "I transferred your eye drops into a bottle with the shape of a capsule so it could fit into your capsule case."
"Oh thank you, Bulma." She handed me the case. "Well you guys better get going. Who knows what awaits to both."
Amai and Buruto wished us the best of luck and hugged us. Valor drew me a picture of a pair of dragonballs, a four star and a three star one and to be exact. He's really been examining Charity's old paintings.
Zen wished me goodbye too and I hugged him. "Thank you so much, Zen. I love you"
"I love you too, little sister."
Trunks and I got into the time machine ready to leave. "You ready?" Trunks asked. I nodded. "Alright." I looked up at the sky, examining the several shapes of the clouds.
Suddenly, the clouds were replaced with branches. What? Then I realized, we're in the past now. Incredible.
"What a place to arrive at." Trunks said with a trace of sarcasm in his voice. It was kind if amusing, he typically wasn't sarcastic. He opened the time machine and tree branches immediately flung into our faces. We finally managed to make our way out and Trunks to turned the time machine into a capsule and put it away.
There was something I needed to say and I couldn't wait anymore.
"Trunks?"
He turned and raised an eyebrow.
"I-I."
Say it just say it!
"I love you, Trunks." He stood wide eyed at my words. My head instantly looked down and my face heated up.
Unexpectedly, I felt Trunks's hands reach up and stroke strands of hair away from my face as his light cornflower blue eyes warmly looked into mine with ardor. I could just read in his eyes what his plans were as his hand lightly held the back if my head.
I locked my eyes onto his, noticing small specks in his eyes that were lighter and some darker. Trunks's eyes darkened with a wave of desire and it felt almost as if I were falling under a spell.
After so much longing, his lips meet mine. A warm current of warmth overcame me as my arms wrapped around his neck.
I felt his strong hands slowly lower themselves, one on my lower back and the other gently squeezing my waist.
It almost felt too brief when he slowly, gently pulled his lips away from mine. "I love you too, Hope." For what seemed like second we stood there in each others arms.
"We're probably not going to get the privacy to do that for a while. We've got to get going. The Z Fighters could be needing our help right now."
I gave one nod. "Alright. Let's go"
With that, our arms linked and we flew in the sky to were the Z Fighters were at, we could already feel a heard of unfamiliar energies arriving to our planet.
I'm coming family. I'm coming.
