Chapter 17: Just A Few More Hours
Trunks was the only thing on my mind from the minute I pulled away from the kiss we shared. I guess after last night, I've been feeling relieved. I've liked him for so long and never thought he'd return the feelings to me. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach just at the meter thought of my best friend.
Wait, is he still just my best friend?
I rolled in bed for a good while thinking it was early but was terribly wrong.
11:27 a.m.! Really?
Trunks would be traveling back in time to tell Goku about the androids arrival and about his heart disease at 1:00 p.m. and I wasn't going with him this time around but wanted to wish him luck. I've been a little anxious to see him.
What about last night? What does this make us now?
After our confessions and actions last night it was clear we aren't going to be "just friends" anymore.
I pulled a white t-shirt, a dark blue gi with the Snow Leopard Academy kanji on it, and some bark brown combat boots and made my way down the stairs. The Snow Leopard Academy was the fighting school my mother, Sora, went to.
Then I saw my adoptive uncle... "Buruto?" I asked confused. "What the heck is on your face?"
"Haha you're funny." He faked a laugh. "It's a beard and I think it looks snazzy on me."
"Snazzy? Okay, Buruto, whatever you say."
"And where do you think you're going, little lady?"
My hand was on the doorknob. "Trunks is traveling back in time today, remember? I want to wish him good luck in person."
"Alright but don't be gone too long. You know how worried Amai gets." I nodded once and headed out.
"I know what you two were up to yesterday too!" I saw him turn around, cross his arms around his waist and make a bunch of "kissing sounds". My face burned.
"Come on, Hope, you don't think I ran off from family and friend gatherings to kiss whoever I liked? When you look like me it isn't too hard to get the ladies either."
I winced in embarrassment. "Buruto please. I don't like him." I lied.
That was a lie. That was such a horrible, unbelievable lie.
"But he likes you." Buruto tried convincing me. I slammed the door. I could hear his laughs from out here.

I got to Capsule Corporation just in time. "Hope! I was starting to think you weren't going to show up." Bulma tightly embraced me and swayed from side to side. "Trunks is still inside getting ready. Come on let's make a couple more tweaks before he leaves."
Wow. The time machine looked great. I then finally realized how much I had contributed to this project with Bulma, it's incredible.
I worked on it with her since I was only 13. Just the thought of it, time travel. We can change the way things have become.
Footsteps were approaching me and my heart skipped a beat. There he was.
He had a long sleeved jacket with the collar flared out and the Capsule Corporation logo on the side of his shoulder. He wore a dark tank top exposing his muscular chest, slightly less dark pants, and light boots with slightly darker tips.
The look he gave me. That look made my world. His face lit up like the sun and his light eyes dazzled like the stars. He looked so incredible, I had the urge to run up and kiss him.
"Hope." Trunks walked up to me and hugged me and I hugged back. I felt his large hands around my small waist while he muttered in my hair, "I'm so, so thankful you showed up."
I lightly stroked his strong back. "I wouldn't have missed it, you know that." I whispered to him. Now footsteps came up and lightly embraced us.
"Let's get going." I blushed, forgetting his mother was right there watching our rather intimate moment. I saw Trunks blush too and it was so adorable when he did.
Trunks' blue eyes flickered over to a can of black paint on a nearby desk and grabbed it. I saw him paint "HOPE"on the machine.
"Oh Trunks, it'll only be a couple of hours. You shouldn't miss me that much."
"Haha very funny, Hope." He responded.
I loved when people would day hope so I could joke and pretend they were saying my name. I grabbed the marker and added "!!" to it.
HOPE!!
"You alright Hope?" Trunks asked me.
To be honest, I was feeling a little sick. I just needed stone sleep. But you know me, I had to deny it.
"I'm fine. Just tired."
"..." Trunks glared at me.
Dammit. There's no tricking this guy.
"Fine. I'm exhausted. I couldn't really sleep last night." I finally admitted and sat down on his home's couch in the process. Trunks soon followed.
"You should get some sleep."
"But I want to see when you leave."
"I'll leave right now so you can rest."
"No. That's dangerous. You're mother had to finish checking things out."
Trunks was struggling to find more reasons why I should sleep. "Then you and I can take a nap right now. Both of us wake up when I leave. Deal?" His hand was held out and he lifted an eyebrow.
"Well, okay fine. Deal."
There was no way I could say no to that face. So the two of us laid on the couch together. His arm was on my waist and mine was on his shoulder. Together we dozed off.
Then the horrific nightmare began.
