Chapter 9: Don't Cry
It had been a couple of hours longer than I expected. I was worried for Trunks, Gohan, and Cheri.
I thought archery would soothe me and went out back to grab my bow and quiver of arrows. It took a tad bit longer than expected to set up the targets, my mind was wondering.
What if something happened? What if the androids? No! Nothing could've happened, they were going to be fine.
The air felt different. I liked it. The sky was covered in clouds.
Oh that's right, its supposed to rain today.
For about 30 minutes I shot arrows at the targets, picked up my arrows, then took the arrow and repeated the cycle. I felt a droplet on my forehead. The sky furiously roared as if it were mad at the world and grew darker.
I smiled to myself.
Rain.
It began to pour abruptly and I took it all in. I received plenty of hours of sleep but decided the sounds would be sure to put me to sleep.
I'll just stay up studying tonight, I thought.
I dragged my legs upstairs and yawned. Buruto was bewildered. "You know its only 4 p.m. right?"
"Yeah, I'm waking up later to do some chores."
"So much for having a normal sleeping pattern." He walked away with laundry in a basket.
"That trip you and Amai went on did some good for you, you're actually doing chores!" I shouted from the top of the staircase.
"Hey, shut it!" He bellowed and I let out a giggle.
I changed sluggishly into a pair of white shorts and, from what I was told, a pastel yellow tank top. Whatever that color was. They sounded nice and they were comfortable anyways.
I wiggled my way into bed and snuggled in my warm blanket. The rain trickled against the window and a branch lightly tapped it every one in a while. The sounds soothed my into slumber. My eyelids felt as if and I didn't resist.
During my rest in my cozy bed, I had an uncanny dream. How odd. I was me just the way I went to sleep. But Cheri and Gohan climbed in through my window. I could...I could them in color.
Gohan sat on the window seat by the bay window and smiled at me. Cheri gracefully stepped towards me. I abruptly rose from laying on my back.
"Cheri? Gohan? Where's Trunks?" My eyes squinted from the brightness of outside and how dark it was in my room.
"What is this? How could light be beaming from outside and yet my room remains so dim? And I see color." They weren't listening. Cheri sat by me and opened her mouth to speak. Tears were fresh in her sapphire eyes.
Sapphire eyes! That's what the color looks like. It looks amazing with her red-gold hair.
"Whatever happens, just know, that things will be okay." What do you mean? You're not going anywhere. Are you? What's happening?" I can feel tears welling up.
"Don't cry." The pumpkin haired girl told me. "I love you."
I was confused. "I love you too. But what is happening?"
It was difficult to remember everything that happened in the dream but I could recall how it ended.
Cheri got up and began to walk away. I tried to get out of bed but it felt like something was holding me back. "Wait! Cheri! Where are you going?!"
She crouched on the window seat and looked my way. My sister held out two fingers close together and leaped into the bright void.
"Cheri! Where are you going?!" This felt so real, I didn't know it was a dream. More of a nightmare than anything.
Gohan arose next and was prepared to jump. "Wait, Gohan! What are you guys doing?" My cousin looked at me and smirked.
"Until we meet again, little cousin. I know you'll understand one day." And he hopped into the void as well.
I felt like I was being bound back against my need by an unidentified force. "Wait! Guys, whats going on? Please answer me." Silence. "Hello?!" I fell back into my pillow and felt myself falling under a daze.
I suddenly whispered his name. I felt like he was standing right there. "T-Trunks..."
____My eyes slowly fluttered open. I couldn't see anymore, which upset me. I heard it pour like cats and dogs outside but not against my window. It was open.
"Hope." It was Trunks. His voice was shaky. And his power! What was this?
"Trunks?! Y-your power! And why are you here." My heart beat sped up. "Trunks what is happening?"
The boy I've known all my life sat on the edge of my bed. His hair was spiked up and glowed like the sun and his eyes were a bright green.
A super saiyan. Trunks had reached the status of a super saiyan. How?!
He powered down and sat on my bed. The new super saiyan didn't speak for about a minute. I could hear him try to begin to speak but hesitate and struggle to hold back sobs.
I sat up on my bed and faced him. He refused to face me and look me in the eye as if he were ashamed. "Trunks." I could hear him turn his head and gasp slightly as if he were spaced out.
Strong arms surrounded my body and held me tightly. I held him back. Trunks was soaking wet. His hands had a thicker, darker liquid. It was blood.
"W-w-w..." In this form of shock and confusion, communication was difficult. Hot tears forced their way through my shut eyelids and my lip refused to stop quivering. "W-what? Please." I heard him lightly sob rather than answer me.
His grip around my waist tightened. I knew what he was going to say. It's as if my dream told it for me. He pulled away so he could face me, only 5 inches apart.
A strand of hair was tucked behind my ear. Those light eyes stared into mine, a broad array of emotion bursting from them.
Sorrow.
Fury.
Angst.
Regret.
Fear.
He struggled to even his unsteady breathing.
"Hope, they're with the Z Fighters now."
