November 1991-January 1992, Katey age 11
Ever since Halloween, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Katey had become inseparable friends. When Katey had first gotten ungrounded, the three of them had tried to talk her into assisting with researching what the three headed dog, which the eleven year old would only find out later from Hermione exactly how they had actually desicovered the three headed dog in the third floor, that his name was Fluffy. Katey thought that that was a ridiculous thing to name a dog who according to Harry, Ron, and Hermione wanted nothing more than to take a bite of you. Despite the best efforts of Harry, Ron, and Hermione to convince Katey to join in the research, the eleven year old Gryffindor adamently refused to help them research.

"Come on, Kat, it'll be fun." Harry urged his twin. The four where occupying a rather private corner of the now quiet common room and where speaking in hushed tones, trying to convince Katey to join in the research.

"No, Harry."

"I've checked the school rules a million times." Hermione said. "We won't be breaking any school rules."

Katey rolled her eyes and turned to face Hermione. "I know that Hermione." Katey told her. "I know that beast is not my concern. I don't want any part of trying figure out what it is guarding."

"Katey, we aren't doing anything dangerous." Ron tried to convince her.

"I know, Ron." Katey said. "I just don't really want to help."

"If that's your decision, Sis, then I respect that."

"Thanks, Harry." Katey smiled greatfully.

"Why don't you want to help?" Hermione wanted to know. "

"I don't think that is something we should worry about. It isn't our concern." Katey said. Ron and Hermione seemed to accept this, and left it at that; Harry, however, sensed that Katey had left out the real reason, yet wisely decided to let it go.

Whatever the real reason why Katey had refused to help the three of them, would probably never be known. Harry, however strongly suspected that she despised disappointing the only father that the two could really remember; a fact which Harry found rather strange. Harry had held his peace and kept his silence from telling the group why he thought she refused to help because he had never really understood the type of relationship that Katey and Severus had.

Katey's first Christmas as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was simply amazing. The Snape's had spent the Christmas holidays at Hogwarts that year. A fact that served to make Katey rather nervous that Severus suspected what her three friends where still up to. Katey strongly suspected herself that it wouldn't be long until Harry once again tried to enlist her help to research what Fluffy was guarding. The eleven year old Gryffindor strongly hoped that she would have enough courage to be able to continue to refuse, as the eleven year old did not like the sound of how dangerous Fluffy sounded and honestly believed that it would be better to just forget about him. A fact made increasingly difficult as Harry, Ron, and Hermione, had spent every spare moment in the library researching and coming up blank.

For Christmas that year, Severus and Lily had surprised Percy, Harry, Lisa, and Katey by installing a fireplace in their rooms in the dungeons. The fireplaces where not connected to the Floo Network, but the girl was pleased all the same. Besides that surprise, Katey had received a book on becoming a animagus along with strict instructions to not try anything for several years, from her godfather, Remus Lupin. A magical sketch book, drawing supplies, and a subscription to a Quidditch Magazine, from Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco. Some Nancy Drew mysteries from Vernon and Petunia. A Weasley jumper and a box of fudge from Mrs. Weasley. A box of treacle tarts from Ron, A book from Hermione, just to name a few. All in all, it was a pretty great day.
