May, 1992.... Katey age 11....
The next morning around seven, Katey awoke to the wonderful aroma of bacon being fried. Slowly getting up from the sofa, Katey wandered into the kitchen and found her godfather making breakfast "Uncle Moony?""Good morning, cub." Remus said.
"When did you get here?"
"Around 10. Your parents asked me to spend the night to keep an eye on things." Remus told her. "You were sound asleep on the sofa and when I tried to get you up to your own bed, you mumbled something that sounded like go away. So I covered you up with a blanked, took off your glasses, and went up to your room and slept in your bed." Remus answered as Katey slid into her seat.
"Oh. Do you know how Mum is?"
"I believe your mother came to around 8:50 last night."
"That's great news." Katey looked relieved.
Remus set a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon in front of her. "Here you go, Cub." Remus said.
"Thanks, Uncle Moony!" Katey said starting to her food.
"Your welcome, Sweetheart. Oh, I almost forgot. Your father wants you to go to Hospital Wing as soon as possible."
Katey's brows furrowed. "Do you know why?" Katey asked taking a bite of her scrambled eggs.
"I do not. I think he wants you to sit with your mother so he can get some rest and something to eat."
"Oh." Katey let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. So, it wasn't about the lie that I had told him last night about Harry pulling some inane prank to let off steam. Maybe he didn't know, or, maybe he's waiting for me to confess the lie to him. The eleven year old thought to herself as she bit off her bacon. While she definitely knew what to expect when it came to Severus Snape, a fact that she definitely liked, she didn't quite understand him. Honestly, the man can spot a lie a meter away. The eleven year old thought as she took a bite of her food. Yet when one of his children lie to him, he won't say anything until they confess it to him. But if a student lied to him he would have them in detention for lying to a Professor, faster than you could say flobberworm. Katey thought with a snort, mentally shrugging as she took another bit of her meal. Quickly finishing her breakfast, Katey out her plate by the sink and hurried upstairs to shower and change her clothes before heading to the hospital wing. Some thirty minutes later found Katey grabbing the cards that she and her sisters had made and heading towards the door to go to the Hospital Wing. "Fred?" Katey's brows furrowed as she opened the door to find one of the Weasley Twins, rather surprised to see Fred here especially since he had been rather upset with her about the dragon incident nearly a month earlier.
"Hello, fair maiden." Fred said with a charming smile.
"I do hope that you aren't still mad at us for the dragon incident."
"All water under the bridge." Fred said easily. "I heard your mum got hurt. Is she any better?"
"Uncle Remus said that Mum came to, around 9 last night."
"I am glad to hear it." Fred told her. "Anyways, I took the liberty of gathering some pretty flowers for your mother and thought I would see if you would care to join me in the Hospital wing."
"Thank you so much for the offer, Fred." Katey said. "Of course I wouldn't mind the company as I go to the Hospital wing."
"Then, after you."
"You know, Fred," Katey said as they left the dungeons. "I never did get to thank you for helping me last week when Parkingston pushed me."
"No thanks needed." Fred said easily. "After all, what are friends for than to lend a helping hand."
