Cousins, Wands, and Hogwarts

August 1, 1991, Katey age 11... A month before she starts Hogwarts...
Eleven year old Katey Potter yawned sleepily, as she nestled deeper into the covers and turned on her side, and drifted back into a comfortable sleep when her door opened softly.

"Katey, it's time to get up." A silky voice said.

"Mmmmm." Katey moaned

"Come on, sweetheart, open your eyes for me." He said.

"Wanna sleep."

"Katey, it's time to get up, remember, we are going to Diagon Alley today."

"I'm sleeping." Katey mumbled.

"And it's time to wake up, Sweetheart." Severus told her firmly, but gently as he made his way to the window and opened the curtains, allowing the morning sunlight to come into the room. Katey groaned softly into her pillow as she shifted, effectively maneuvering her pillow over head so it blocked out the sunlight. "Come on Katey." Severus encouraged. "The sooner you wake up, the sooner we can go to Diagon Alley and the sooner you can get your wand."

That got Katey's attention as she once again maneuvered her pillow so that it was back under her head, before sleepily opening a single eye. "Mmmmffff. I'm up." The girl yawned sleepily as she sat up in her bed and slipped her gold framed glasses on her face.

"And, Katey?"

"Yes?"

"Don't forget we are meeting your aunt, uncle and, cousins in muggle London today before we go to Diagon Alley."

"We have to see Dudley the idiotic bully?" Katey grimaced.

"Yes and I expect you to be civil, understood?" He asked. Katey huffed and crossed her arms over her chest as she sat up, but did not say anything. "Did you hear me, young lady?"

"Come on, Dad! I don't want to be civil to Dudley!"

"I don't care what you want, young lady. You will be civil today or we will be having a very unpleasant conversation, have I made myself quite clear?"

"Yes, Sir." Katey said sullenly.

"Katherine." Severus said the name in a warning tone. "Mind the tone, young lady."

"Yes, Sir."

"Get up and and get dressed in something presentable and get downstairs for breakfast."

"Yes, Dad." Sighed as she got out of her bed and began to get ready for the day.

Muggle London.....

"Petunia!" Lily greeted her sister with a large smile. "It's so good to see you. How are you?"

"Hello, Lil." Petunia greeted her sister with a slight laugh. It's good to see you as well. And I am just fine."

"Vernon, you're looking well." Lily said.

"Thank you." Vernon nodded.

"Severus, Lily, this is the newest member of our family, Susan Renee Carlington Dursley." Petunia pulled a girl with glossy honey blonde hair from behind her and put her hands on her shoulders. "Susan, darling, this is your Aunt Lily and your Uncle Severus."
