The flight was dreadful. I had a middle seat which is the WORST there was a middle aged man sitting at my left and a woman in her late 20's on my right, long story short both of them fell asleep on my shoulders. Nick messaged me telling me that he'll come pick me up but I politely declined his offer, my reason being that I want to feel the thrill of getting in a cab. We don't have those where I come from but I lied, the real reason was I wanted to get to a salon to change my hair. Nick never told me how he felt about my natural hair and I didn't want to use relaxer so I decided on wearing a wig that looked as natural as possible I arrived at the airport and got a cab. I searched a couple of places online so when I got in I knew exactly where I wanted to go.
My hair was almost done when I received a text from him hey baby, thought you would be here by now waiting for you. I love you. His location was attached Mr. Scott I believe that good things come to those who wait I replied I've been waiting for two years mam I can't wait any longer "All done" the lady said I didn't get her name but might i add she did a wonderful job. "How come I've never seen you here before" she asked with confidence "I'm not from here actually I came to visit" she smiled "Girl listening to that accent I can tell but I'll be your hair stylest for the time so take my number" I laughed she was sassy and really nice so I took the number. She saved it as Kisha, I took my phone and payed her "It was nice meeting you Kisha" I waved my goodbyes and got an Uber. I gave him my location and we were off. I wasn't sure Nick gave the right location because we were in a rich area with mansions the driver must've seen my confusion because he asked me if I'm sure this is the right location. Slightly offended I made a point of it to answer him in my language "Ja, wat laat jou dink ek weet nie waarnatoe Ek gaan nie" (yes, what makes you think I don't know where I'm going). We stopped and I paid him and took my bags "Holy Moly" I uttered this house was really big, if you could call it that. I thought Nick told me his parents were normal lawyers I walked up to the door and rang the bell butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I hear footsteps loud and quick and the door opened.
"Hey" I smile stepping forward but his facial expression stopped me midway, was I not what he was expecting why isn't he smiling or excited "Why? " he questioned voice irretated, uncertain of what he's talking about I whisper "why what?" he just stood there with a clenched jaw "why did you change your hair" confused I answered "Because I wasn't sure how you felt about my natural curls and I think it's pretty I wanted to do something different, but I'm sorry for dissapointing you" my eyes full of tears I stood there regretting my decision. "Nah baby don't cry, I didn't mean it like that I just, I just loved your hair and why would you want to change it for me? " I stood there unable to move a muscle "I.... I'm sorry I shouldn't have come here" his face suddenly softens realizing what he did he grabbed me in a tight hug "You're beautiful and I'm sorry" he smelled wonderful and in his embrace I felt safe, if that even makes sense,I guess. He took my bags and we went inside I didn't expect to see anybody, he informed his parents that I was visiting, but they were away with work. He showed me to my room in awkward silence. When he opened the door I stood in it turning around before he could enter, telling him that it was a long flight and im going to sleep. He got the picture eyes full of emotion and I instantly regretted what I said "I understand, I love you" he said and walked away "Forever" I replied even though I was alone. I closed the door and went to go shower this wasn't how I was planning on meeting him but it was a long day so I closed my eyes.
