Chapter 25

"Mommy where's Maya" Natalie asks her mom who was preparing breakfast. "I fired her" I announce my presence. Natalie looked at me confused "What is that?" she asks. I explained to her that  when you no longer need an employee you let them go "But we need her daddy who going to clean and read me stories" I smile she really was so innocent "Your mother" I answer and Natalie looks to her mom who was looking at me. She said nothing. That's what I hated the fact that she's not reacting. I've been torturing her for months now and she silently allowed me to do it .As if she's telling herself that my anger was justified.

When I went to my office I was surprised to see Adi standing there. "I know what you did" he spits out "What are you talking about" I ask him. I haven't seen him since the wedding. "You never knew about Natalie you only found out recently the wedding was a scam so you could have joined custody over her daughter. You're torturing Ava and for what?" I feel anger boiling inside of me by the fact that he's referring to Natalie as her daughter.
"Because she didn't give me the opportunity to be a father, she robbed me of that" his laugh was hysterical "Listen to yourself Nick! Be honest and take your head out of your ass, you had to choose between your career and your love and you chose your career" I grab onto his shirt "But that's the thing! I had a choice back then. She didn't give me one with Natalie" he pushes me off of him. "She was afraid of being rejected. Once again. Because that's what you did!She was better of with Kyle! " I get up and look at him truly hurt. I thought he was my friend. "How did you find out about everything?" I ask him curious as to where he got this information. "Tony phoned me and told me everything that had happened. At first I didn't believe him but Leila told me that Ava wasn't herself I went to your house yesterday and saw her. For fuck sakes Nick I didn't even recognize her! I told her I was visiting for a while and that she shouldn't tell you. Nick fix this right now or I will help her win her case against you! Kyle's not around anymore to clean up your shit. Grow up! " I was shocked by his words. But before I could say anything he left. Realizing everything that he said was true I felt like a piece of shit.

I had hurt her because I was hurting, I wasn't there when Natalie said her first word or started walking. I didn't celebrate her birthday with her. It's not like I stopped loving Ava. I've always loved her but I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I take out the letter she wrote me before she left
If something breaks if the pieces are large enough you can fix it
But sometimes thing don't break they shatter.

I never stopped loving her. I needed to remind her what we had an idea came to mind "Natalie" .

I arrived home and was greeted by a playful Natalie "Where's your mom?" I whisper and she replied "In the kitchen" I went in to see her cooking, it looked delicious. I never ate her food, she would always dish up for me but when Natalie went to bed I would throw it away. She never stopped dishing up for me I was really being an asshole . "How was your day?" I ask curious as to what she did all day. She froze, but quickly recovered getting the plates not saying a word or making eye contact . She left the kitchen and returned with Natalie. After we ate and she took Natalie to bed she came to the bedroom. She went to the bathroom to change and came back getting ready to sleep on the couch "I'm sorry" I blurt out and she looks at me emotionless. "I have hurt you so badly and what I did was unforgivable" I remember our wedding day and how she cried and I kept hurting her. "I was selfish I didn't think about how you felt, raising our daughter alone. Choosing my career over our love" She ignored me and went to go to the couch. "I love you" I tell her truthfully she looks at me shocked. I walked towards her with pleading eyes. "You don't hurt the people you love Nick" it was the truth. I've caused her so much pain. "Then how do I prove my love to you?" I ask prepared to do anything as long as she forgives me i went down on my knees holding onto her. "Let me go" I hear her whisper. My eyes became watery by the idea of not having her around "If that's what you wish" I tell her and I got up, turned around and retrieved to bed. She follows me reaching out for my arm "But just know I love you too" I stepped closer to touch her but she jumped. A tear rolled down my cheek. She was afraid of me with reason. "I won't hurt you, ever again " I tell her and mean it. She steps closer kissing me and I grab her savoring this moment because this was the last. "Sleep with me, one last time. " I was desperate. She nods and laid her head on my chest. These few months went by fast and I had accomplished my goal. I had destroyed her but still I wasn't satisfied. She cooked, cleaned took care of Natalie while I was away with work.But I wasn't happy. And I now realize why.

Ava's Pov

I woke up to an empty bed. There was a letter on the cupboard "By proving my love I have to let you go" I look at the documents to see its divorce papers. I read through the papers. joined custody over Natalie Rose Scott I smiled. I took Natalie to all her favorite spots in Switzerland she now knows how to pronounce it as well. We made a stop by a small village went to one decorated home and knocked at the door. "Maya" Natalie ran towards her and she invited us in. We arrived home and I started packing. I took my phone and made a call "Hello" I say hoping that this is still his number "My cherrie, I missed you" tears formed in my eyes "Thank you Troy, for everything you've done for me for our daughter" I hear him chuckle. He helped me raise her so he had a right over her. "He was your first love, I intend to be your last"

Nick's pov

I couldn't say goodbye to her. Once again I was being selfish but I didn't care. I came home to see Maya and Natalie playing with the new doll I bought her "She asked me to watch her until you came back" Maya says. Atleast she left my daughter. She'll always be a reminder of what we had because we were magic "I went up to my room to see that she took everything that belonged to her. I was stupid to have hoped that she would have stayed.

" What a pathetic way to leave me" I hear her voice I turn around tears forming in my eyes "You stayed" I say in disbelief "You, just like the ring around the planet Saturn, are my longest hug" I rushed over to kiss her "You should start packing" she says.

We bought my old mansion in America deciding that there was where we were going to raise Natalie together. Kyle had a son, his name was Aiden. Sarah and Finn had 3 children and were still happy and Adi and Leila often visited South Africa. Let's just say he fell in love with the atmosphere.

"Okay sweetheart daddy has to go" I kiss my beautiful daughter goodbye "Don't talk to other girls daddy" I look at her shocked by her words I turn to see a satisfied Ava "Rosaline did you teach our daughter to say that" I ask and she suddenly changed her facial expression "No" I turn to our daughter giggling "Did mommy teach you to say that" She giggles "Nooooo" I laugh and walk up to Rosaline "How much did you pay her to say that" I ask planting a kiss on her cheek "I didn't pay her anything" she tried to escape but I got a hold of her tickling her, her laughter filled the room and soon Natalie was joining the fun. Turns out she was still famous after all these years and was both a producer and an actor. I was still an author. Really happy that I accidentally send a snap to this sassy, confident beautiful woman. I kiss her on the cheek and Natalie closes her eyes "No smooching" I laugh at her statement. Really? Once again how does she think she was created . "I love you I tell her" she kissed me again and replied "Forever"
