-7- Visiting Beijing
My little Xinxin is now three years old. Yes, I haven't contacted you in a long time and wrote something. But that was because I had too much on my mind.
Xinxin is a beautiful, bright and cheerful girl. From waking up to going to bed, she's just laughing. She brings joy to my life and to everyone she meets.
She has black wavy hair like her mother and also her nose. Her dark brown eyes light up every time she smiles. I can' t imagine a life without my little princess.
Unfortunately there are some bad news again. This time they come directly from Beijing. My aunt has died. She was younger than my mother and she left two sons. Apparently, she had been suffering from cancer for quite some time, of which very few people knew anything.
Actually, I hadn't planned to fly to Beijing again, but in this case it's different. In such a case I have to pull myself together and bite into the sour apple.
Although I have a stomachache when I think that I could see Yanli and Yibo there or will see them for sure. But then I must stand over it and show strength.
Together with my little Xinxin I will fly to Beijing today. It is her first flight and she is so excited that she jumps, sings and dances back and forth. It is just too lovely to watch her.

In Beijing...
After our landing in Beijing, Xinxin looked at me with big eyes. "Daddy, they all look like us." She says and points to the people around us. I raise her bilingual, but she prefers the English language, so at least not everyone could understand what she said.
My father picked us up from the airport. He took Xinxin in his arms and admired how tall she had grown and how pretty she looked. "Daddy did that." Explain she to my father.
With a red face we leave the airport and drive to my old parents' house, where my mother was waiting for us impatiently. My mother opened the car door and helped Xinxin to get out. Before she took the little one in her arms and cuddled her. "Grandma has missed you." Said my mother and Xinxin struggled in Chinese and explained that she had missed her grandmother too.
Contrary to expectations, Yanli and Yibo didn't come. The funeral ceremony was held without them and I breathed a sigh of relief because I didn't have to meet them after all.
Since we could only stay for three days, Xinxin and I used the last day extensively on the playground, where I already played around as a little boy.
She quickly made friends with other children, spoke a mixture of English and Chinese with them and romped around with them. She is one of those children who quickly make new friends.
I stood there watching her all the time, but eventually my legs got tired and I wanted to sit down. I turned around and was about to walk to the next bench when someone grabbed me by my wrist.
"ZhanZhan, wait."
I turned around so hastily that I almost lost my balance.
"Yibo? What do you want from me?" I ask in horror as my former best friend stands in front of me and looks at me.
"Can we talk?"
"It's a bad time." I answered his question.
"Why? Where do you want to go? I'll go with you."
"I don't want to go anywhere." I say, looking at the playground.
"Then why is it a bad time ZhanZhan? I need to talk to you, okay?" Says Yibo and holds my wrist so tight that it hurts.
"Could you please let me go? You're scaring her."
"Whom?" Ask Yibo. And at that moment the beautiful little girl, who is my daughter, comes running towards me crying.
"Daddy, who is that? Why is he holding you?" She asked me crying when she arrived at my place. Yibo stares at me with eyes wide open and lets go of my wrist.
I take Xinxin on my arms and she clasps her short arms around my neck. "All is well my little one. Daddy's fine. Stop crying." And she calms down again. But she looks at Yibo questioningly.
"Who are you?" She asks him.
"Uh, I'm... I'm Yibo, and who are you?" He asks her nervously.
"I am Xiao Xinxin, and I'm three years old. I'm already in kindergarten." Explains she proudly.
"And where's your mama?" Will Yibo know and is looking around.
"My mama is up there where the stars are, and she watches me from there every day." Xinxin replied.
Yibo looks at me questioningly and I nod my head. "She is dead. She died five months after Xinxin was born." I said so.
"Why were you holding my daddy?" Wants to know Xinxin.
"Oh, that was just an accident. I wanted to talk to your daddy." Reply Yibo.
"Then you must ask him, not just hold him." Xinxin teaches him. "Besides, my daddy doesn't like strangers touching him."
"But I'm not a stranger."
"Yes, you are. I've never seen you before. So you are a stranger."
"But I've known your daddy a long time."
"No way! Then you would have known that I am his Xinxin."
"We haven't seen each other for a long time."
"I don't care. You can't just touch my daddy. You have to ask me first."
"Then I ask you. Can I talk to your daddy for a minute?"
"Is it important?"
"Yes!
"You'll have to bribe me first."
"Bribe"? With what?"
"You have to buy me an ice cream." Xinxin asks him and Yibo accepts. Xinxin takes Yibo by the hand and leads him to an ice cream stand, where she clarifies with him which ice cream she accepts as a bribe.
"ZhanZhan, do you want some ice cream?"
"No, thanks."
"My daddy doesn't like ice cream."
"But your daddy loved ice cream and candy back then."
"Yes, earlier. But now my daddy doesn't like ice cream anymore."
"And why not?"
"You're very curious Yibo. For this information, an ice cream is not enough." Xinxin enlightens him and grins.
"You look just like your daddy when you grin like that."
"Really? Daddy, smile."
Xinxin pulled out of her small handbag her little mirror and looked at herself in it, then she compared her grin with mine.
"How long will you stay in Beijing? Have you moved back here?"
"We're leaving tonight. Xinxin has to go back to the kindergarten and I have to go to work."
"So do you have at least some time to talk now? Please?"
I see Yibo that it seems to be important to him to get rid of what he wants to talk about. But I don't know what to say. My head is empty.
