***Before the proposal***

Now that I live in California with Zhan and Xinxin, it is time to put my next plan into action. I want to ask Zhan if he wants to marry me. But before that, I need to settle a few things.

I am still waiting for my work permit and have time to prepare everything. And I have to take care of some important things. For one thing, asking Zhan's parents for permission to marry their son, even though I already know the answer. I want to do it properly, with all the trimmings.

I let them tell me the way to the cemetery and then I go there alone. I wanted to take Xinxin with me first, but I think I'll talk to Emma alone today.

When I arrived at the cemetery, I found her grave quite quickly. They had a picture of her worked into the gravestone. She was really beautiful. No wonder Zhan fell for her.

After I put some white lilies, her favorite flowers, on the grave and bowed, I knelt in front of the grave.

When we got home, I called Zhan's parents. And as I suspected, they had immediately agreed. I even got to hear "It's about time." and "Finally. I thought you were gonna wait forever."

Then I called Zhan's boss. I had a lot to do with him when we sold our company to him and we got along well. I explained to him that I planned to propose to Zhan on my first day of work there. And he was immediately enthusiastic and promised me his support.

It's been one day since I proposed to Zhan and I still feel that tingle in my stomach when I think about how he said yes to my proposal.

I just called my brother to tell him the news. Slowly, he and I are starting to get close again, too. At least now we talk to each other more often and he wants to come and visit us soon, together with Yanli and their son.

My brother said: "I always knew that you two belonged together and that one day you would go this way. Zhan has always been the only one you showed your other side to. In the past he made you smile, laugh and show your feelings. I'm glad you're finally a couple, and I wish that nothing ever comes between you again."
